OBITUARY:
SLAGLE (GLECKLER), Ida Mae
March 18, 1929 - December 20, 2006




     Ida Mae Slagle, 77, of Liberty Center, died Wednesday morning, December 20, 2006, at Swanton Health Care Center. Ida Mae was born March 8, 1929, in Lyons to the late Harvey and Thelma (Rowland) Gleckler. She married Jack E. Slagle on December 10, 1950, and he survives.

     Also surviving are two daughters, Karen (Jim) Savage, Liberty Center and Julie (Steve) Vorwerk, Tabernacle, NJ; two sons, Terry (Julie) and Jon (Garlan "Bunny") Slagle, both of Liberty Center; two brothers, Clarence Gleckler, Swanton and Dale Gleckler, Lyons; sister-in-law, Rosie Gleckler, Whitehouse; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. A brother, Howard, and sister, Leona, also preceded her in death.

     Mrs. Slagle worked as an accountant for 13 years at Heller Hospital and for 9 years at Penrod & George, both in Napoleon. She was also self employed doing tax work until 2002. She was a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, Liberty Center, where she was a chorister for 5 years and a former lay leader. Ida Mae was also a member of the Liberty Center American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Red Cross volunteer, heading up the Liberty Center blood drive for many years. She was a former member of the Napoleon Business and Professional Women and the Wide Awake Club, Hamler. Ida Mae enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, sewing and baking pies. She will be remembered for her kind nature and the smile she always seemed to share with others.

     Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, December 23, 2006, at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Heath Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit on Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center. Memorials are suggested to the Friends of Liberty Center Public Library.
