OBITUARY:
BORLAND, John Richard




John Borland     John Richard Borland, 85, of Lyons, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2008, in his home surrounded by his family. John was born in Marion, Ohio April 20, 1922, to Carlen and Elma (Harmon) Borland. John married Donna Kisseberth May 3, 1941, they celebrated 66 years together. John proudly serviced his country in the US Navy in San Diego, CA during WW II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 265, Wauseon, Ohio the Boieur 997 Forty and Eight of Lenawee County, MI and AmVets Post 1313 of Napoleon, OH. John attended Scott High School in Toledo where he boxed in the Golden Gloves. He was an electrician at the former Willys Overland for 31 years retiring in 1976. After retirement John enjoyed working on his farm where he built a pond and playground, he enjoyed wood cutting, jeep races, campouts and hay rides. The Borland family reunions were held there the past 20 years.

     John is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Sharon (John) Lakatos, of Sand Creek, MI, Linda (Steve) Boger, of Lyons, OH, Judy (Tom) Trumper, of Ft. Bragg, CA, Barbara (August) Steiner-Zehender, of Morenci, MI and Diane (Ralph) Seidel, of Bakersfield, CA; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; also sisters, Vera (Ed) Allen of Toledo, Sandra (Robert) Pate, of Ann Arbor, MI and Aunt Dorothy (George) Gunderman of Blissfield, MI. John was preceded in death by his sons, Johnny Jr., Bobby Gene and Roger Carlen; also his mother-in-law, Nellie Kisseberth who lived till she was 101 years of age; his parents, brother, Carlen; sister, Mary Lou Clark and infant grandson, David Boger.

     Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH on Thursday from 4-9:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Lyons Cemetery. There will be a Celebration of Life for John at the Borland Farm, Lyons, OH Sunday, April 20, 2008. The family suggests tributes in the form of contributions to the Lyons Royalton Fire Department.
