NICHOLS, Warren J. April 3, 2008 BROOKLYN – WARREN J. NICHOLS, SR.., 78, died April 3rd in Tampa, Florida after a short illness. Warren was born to Walter W. and Elizabeth Viers Nichols on June 3,1929 in Sylvania, Ohio and spent his childhood in Lyons, Ohio. On October 7, 1949, he married Rosemary M. Potes in Jasper, Michigan and she survives. Warren and Rosemary lived many years in Adrian, Michigan and later in their home on Lake Columbia in Brooklyn, Michigan. In recent years, they wintered in Bradenton, Florida, where they had many close friends. Warren was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, American Legion Post 315 and the Adrian Moose Fraternity, and enjoyed friendships in those organizations. Warren was employed by the American Chain and Cable Company for 34 years, and developed and managed the Quality Assurance Program. After his retirement, he returned to work for two years with the Vaco Corporation in Jonesville, Michigan. Warren loved life and enjoyed boating and fishing, and loved Rosemary’s cooking. He was an excellent golfer and enjoyed golfing with his sons, brothers and friends. A loving husband and father, Warren had great fun spending time with his family, and especially delighted in playing cards with his brothers and close relatives and friends. He loved reunions, and attended several faithfully every year. Warren is survived by his children, Susan Nichols and her husband, Charles Vanderwell of Adrian; Warren J. Nichols Jr. of Adrian; Annette Nichols and her husband, John Dickson, of Fayette, Ohio; and Jonathon and Judith Nichols in Palm City, Florida. Warren was also the loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Warren is also survived by two sisters, Naomi (Robert) Dunbar of Adrian, and Chloe (Frank) Smallman of Swanton, Ohio. His brothers, Glenn (Alice Rose) Nichols of Metamora, Ohio, Wilbur (Caroline) Nichols of Camden, Michigan, and Gary (Irene) Nichols of Lyons, Ohio also survive. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Laurence C. Nichols and sister Carol Lynn Nichols in infancy. Visitation for Warren will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and also on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with Reverend Lloyd Jewett officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of cremains at a later date in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Warren Nichols, Sr. for Medical Expenses. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. |
