This
cemetery
was originally published in Vol-2 of Johnson County Cemeteries as
the BURCHETT-STAMBAUGH CEMETERY. It has come to my attention from
several
people
that the original name of this cemetery is actually the BURCHETT FAMILY
CEMETERY.
From route 23 go west on route 1559, till you come to the Stambaugh Post Office, cemetery
is located about a quarter mile pass the Post Office on the right side of the road.
LOCATED ON THE HILL OPPOSITE ROTHWELL BRANCH.

Counted 12 marked with stones but no writing on them. One of those is Rose Burchett
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
* : W.J. Burchett (Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Burchett) It should have been T.J. and not
W.J. on the marker. He was known as “Jeff” so guess Uncle Ike evidently had his first
name wrong. It also has dates as unknown, but we now know them.
Thomas J. was born in Floyd, Co., Ky and died in Johnson County, Kentucky. He was the
Father of 8 children: Julius, Sarah, Thomas Landrum, Mary L., Andrew J., Noah S.,
Rosa A., and Henry Burchett. He was married to Anna Hite.
** : Wife of Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Burchett was born in Washington County, Virginia in
1833, and died after 1880 in Stambaugh, Johnson Co., Ky.
*** : The marker has his name as Landrum Burchett, 1860-1949. Another date for his birth
on a D. Dearring’s website, it states he was born on March 17, 1861 and died
on June 28, 1949.
**** : Sister of Henry Burchett No marker. But large stone under a large tree.
