GEORGE W. CLEVENGER
Funeral services for George W. Clevenger, 83, were held at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, September, 6, at the Church of Christ at West Van Lear by Rev.
Joe Zavadsky.
Mr. Clevenger died September 4 after a one-day illness in Dayton, Ohio
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tom McCoart. Death was caused by a
cerebral Hemorrhage.
A former resident of Van Lear he was a employee of the Consolidation
Coal Company where he worked as a miner and carpenter.
He was born at Pikeville on March 1, 1870, and was a member of the
Christian Church.
Surviving besides Mrs. McCoart are other children, Billy Clevenger and
Arther Clevenger, Grundy, Va. Thelma Clevenger and Erma Clevenger,
Grundy Va., and ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.’
Also surviving are two brothers, Lon and Levi Clevenger, of Dearborn,
Mich., and one sister, Nancy Clevenger of Virginia. One son, Butler,
preceded him in death.
Burial was made in the family cemetery at Van Lear under the direction
of the Preston Funeral Home.
