MARIA MEEK
1882-1962
 
Mrs. Maria “Cooge” Meek, 80, well-known resident of Concord died in a
local hospital at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, September 2, of a heart condition
following an illness of two years.
 
A lifelong resident of the county, she was born February 15, 1882,
the daughter of the late B. L. and Mary Elizabeth Conley Davis.
  
She was a member of the United Baptist Church. Her husband, Acie
Meek, preceded her in death in 1936.
 
Survivors include three sons, Virgil Meek, Concord; Clarence Meek,
Thealka; Authie Meek, Concord; two daughters, Mrs. Russell Reneer,
Port Clinton, OH; Mrs. Minnie Lou Preston, New Lebanon, OH; a
brother, Lon Davis, Van Lear; a sister, Mrs. John Welch, Thealka.
 
Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Concord
United Baptist church with Elzie Banks, Nim Sturgill, Buell Ferguson,
and F. F. Rigsby as officiating ministers.
 
Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery at Concord.
