Services Held Tuesday for Local Woman

Mrs. Grace Hitchcock Stafford, 66, well-known resident of this city, died
Sunday afternoon in a local hospital following an illness of several
years.

The daughter of Marion and Reginia McDowell Hitchcock, she was born in
this county, February 3, 1887. she was a member of the First Methodist
Church.

Known throughout-the community as "Ma", she was a friend to all who knew
her. Loyalty and devotion to her friends was synonymous with her name.

She operated the Central Restaurant on Court Street for a number of years
prior to her illness.

Surviving are one brother, Eveett Hitchcock, Shinnston, W. Va., one half-
sister, Mrs. Beaulah Roberts, city, one half-brother, Clyde Melvin of
Missouri, a step sister, Mrs. Lydia McKenzie, city, Mrs. W. E. Roberts and
Betty Lou Gambill, both of this city, whom she reared.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First Methodist Church with the
Rev. W. f. Pettus officiating.

Burial was made in the Stafford cemetery under the direction of the
Paintsville Funeral Home.
