HARRY G. STAFFORD
1877-1960

Harry G. Stafford, 83, prominent resident of this city, died at his
home on Fourth Street at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, after an
extended illness.

The son of the late Jesse, Sr., and Georgann Turner Stafford, he
was born in this county April 23, 1877. A retired merchant, he was
a member of one of Johnson County’s outstanding families whose
activities have long been associated with the development and
progress of this section.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Burch Stafford; two sons,
Earl Stafford, Ashland; Gordon Stafford, Clarksburg, W. Va.; two
daughters, mrs. James E. Webb, Columbia, S. C.; Mrs. James M. Reid,
Charlotte, N. C.; one brother, Jesse Stafford, Jr., Hitchins; two
sisters, Mrs. Rose Spradlin, Staffordsville; Mrs. Mollie Littman of
this city.

Funeral services were conducted from the First Christian Church in
this city at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, with the pastor, Rev. John
Pommert, officiating. Pallbearers were Paul M. Stafford, Robert
Stafford, Jesse Stafford, Morris Stafford, George Stafford and Hugh
Hickman.

Burial was in the Stafford Cemetery at Staffordsville.
