JESSE HOWARD STAFFORD 1913-1933 Death Calls Popular Boy Jesse Howard Stafford, 20, Succumbs to Pneumonia Jesse Howard Stafford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stafford, of Staffordsville, died at the Paintsville Hospital late last Saturday evening from the effects of pneumonia which he had contracted three weeks ago. Young Stafford had withstood the attack of pneumonia and had passed the nine-day crisis peculiar to the disease, but the high fever during his illness had affected his heart which resulted in his death. No death in recent years has caused more genuine grief, not only in his immediate family, but among the people as a whole. He was one of the best young men Johnson county ever produced. He was a clean young man and very energetic not only in the school room, but in daily life. He graduated with honors from the Paintsville High in the class of 31, which is quite a record when his youthfulness is considered. He would have been 20 years old on Monday, October 2, the anniversary of his birth. Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Misses Roberta Grace and Geraldine Stafford. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Missionary Baptist Church in Paintsville, the services were in charge of Rev. R. Lee James, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Burns Conley and Rev. Coon. Following the funeral services the body was taken to the Stafford home and laid to rest in the family burying lot at that place.
