CORA B.WELLS 1894-1959 CORA B. WELLS, 69, IS DEAD OWNER OF WELLS SHOE STORE Cora B. Wells. 69, died at 5:00 p.m. Monday at St. Marys Hospital in Huntington, W.Va., after an illness of several weeks. She had submitted to surgery in October and her condition gradually worsened. She was the wife of the late G.C.(Gus)Wells who died in 1955. The family operated the Wells Shoe Store on Main Sreet for many years, and Mrs.Wells continued with the business after her husband's death, spending her time at the store untill illness kept her away. She was born June 18 1894, a daughter of the late Frank P.and Nancy Adams Blair of this city. Her father was a well known lawyer. Mrs. Wells was devoted to her family, and was one of Paintsville's finest women. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are three children, Frank Wells, Flat Gap, Ed Wells, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary K. Schmitt, both of Paintsville, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Miss Lydia Blair and Mrs, C.F.Walters, both ofPaintsville, and Mrs. Carrie Wells of Louisa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church by the Reverend James E.Wallace. Burial will be in the Wells Cemetery. Copyright 2001 Paintsville Herald
