PIKES PEAK OR BUST - 14000+ ft.
and it just about did bust us physically
We took the Cog train up - Most
miserable ride we have ever taken! VERY small wooden seats, 3 seats
facing 3 seats - we were on the incline side so felt like we were going
to fall into the laps of strangers across from us - I had to use my
cane to brace myself - no leg room - no shoulder room - my fanny was
hanging off into the aisle the whole trip. We were squashed together -
even though Thomas is skinny, he still has broad shoulders. It
was hot down in Colorado Springs - freezing at the top. Dad
didn't fare well at all - legs and feet swelled up, he couldn't
breathe. They encourage you to buy and take snacks and drinks with you
but we were so quished, no way to get to them. If had known,
would have bought a couple of extra seats so we could have spread out a
little. I had a hard time at top breathing, dizzy, etc but was
determined to go outside and take photos - Thomas was kind to help
me. It WAS beautiful at the top looking across mountain
ranges and down at Colorado Springs. We can now cross this off our
"Bucket List".
