Which John - of the 2 I know in 1830 only one is a bachelor and he would be only 15 and said he was a bachelor when he married see  Elizabeth SHAW & John Lankshear - 1838 - the other his father 1808 John Lankshear wedding Margaret Pearson would be a Widow that is if Margaret Pearson had died - and if so then the Margaret in 1841 census age 58 and 69 in 1851 from Scotland is Smith. Clearly though with further records found this is not connected with those John's.

There is also 1832 John Lankshear in Australia - this man is a brewer and 2 people are mentioned on manifest so the other could be his wife. If it is 1832 rather than 1825 then perhaps this marriage is him. At moment I do not know of whom he is the son. Unless he is my John and goes to Tasmania and comes back - but assisted migrants usually stay and he is travelling in Australia in 1844 and 1845.

So this John appears to be a John whose birth we have not found. December 1832 he is 38 ie born 1794

and so is most likely to be John baptised at Kencot in 1788 son of Thomas and Mary

and 2010 it all clicked the Mary of 1800 Mary LANKSHEAR marriage John MARGETTS later they went to Tasmania

must be his sister and that is why he goes to Tasmania himself - so we had the wrong Mary married to John Margetts. I'll explain all that on their page

1830

The second witness although difficult to read looks like also in other marriages on the page so maybe a church person

1830

Post script 2/2010 I think I have found Margaret back in England and re-marrying and from this also looks like she was a widow from marriage to Charles Henry Smith and she was Margaret Ann Ellis  - please click link for the story 1852 Margaret LANKSHIRE marriage Samuel Newson surgeon

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age
