He died in home of grandson Louie Dotson (Louis A. Dotson, son of William Preston Dotson and Martha Jane Maddox) and wife Bertha Hogg; date from descendant Charles G. Maddox. Dotson family graves below:

served in Co. B, Flournoy's Regt. , 16th Texas Infantry, Confederate Army for 3 1/2 years beginning 23 Jan 1862, listed as "Private and musician." He was Confederate Pensioner No. 23417 in Taylor Co., TX
