Thomas Jefferson Longley (1842-1908),
son of James and Nancy Longley, grandson of William and Mary,
holding rifle and believed to be in his Civil War uniform. He
enlisted in the Union Army 25 Dec 1863 at age 21 in Jefferson
Co., KY (probably Louisville). He served in Co. L, 4th Regt.,
KY Cavalry Volunteers, and was discharged at Macon, GA 21 Aug
1865.
He fathered
sixteen children by two wives who were sisters, Avisa May and
Dora Narcissus Turner. Nine of these children were males and
several came to Texas.
