BADGER, Daniel T. |
(1904-1988)—Prarie Twp, Schuyler
County, Missouri is listed in the 1910-1920 census. He had 3 children
Gladys M., Raymond Jesse, & Carmaletta, and wife Myrtle. In 1930
son Raymond is married with 2 children (Marie & Pansy?) and wife
Mary. Would like to connect to members of this family who would be
cousins to my husband. Husband is grandson of George Tompson Badger,
who was a brother to Daniel. |
BADGEROW, Isaac B. | (mispelled as Badgeron/Bedgeron on the
1870 census) One by the name of Isaac Badgerow who was married to Elizabeth F. Cochran living at Roscoe, St. Clair County, MO. Someone who I think is related to him, Isaac, is listed as W. Badgeron and wife Elizabeth who was living at Speewell Twp., St. Clair County, MO. Also living with W. Badgeron is two children and their names are also mispelled were as Lorenda and Lohman (Lewman). Lorenda and Lewman are actually children of Isaac and their mother's name was Margaret (Johnson) who died and is buried in Canada. I don't know what the W. Stands for above and how he might be related to Isaac. Next, I find Isaac and his two children on the 1875 Cherokee County, Cherokee Twp., Kansas state census. |

BAKER, William John |
b. 18 June 1857, d. 13 June 1926 Melrose, Idaho. He married DELIA ETTA CLINGER b.22 June 1863 in Fredonia, Wilson, Kansas 26 October 1881. He is shown 1880 census Chetopa, Wilson, Kansas living with uncle NOAH BAKER. Noah moved to Benton County Arkansas in November of 1881. William appears to have moved to Hickory County Missouri where at least two children were born, Asa and Charles. I have not been able to find any record of them in Hickory County. Later they moved to Holt County Missori where Delia was raised and some of the Baker relatives originated, such as the Reeves and Scott. They migrated to Cheney Washington around 1889 and one child was born there. Family lore says William's father J. W. BAKER was also William John Baker and was a minister. Around 1910 the William's daughter wrote to grandfather J. W. in Iowa or Illinois. J. W. was killed when a train hit his horse and buggy at a crossing because he was deaf and did not hear the whistle. I have no record of William John prior to 1880 census. |

BARRON, William Nathaniel Gale |
William Nathaniel Gale Barron,
Jr. marriage to Mollie Gill. It is assumed by myself, Jon Tyler Conner, That WNG Barron, Jr ....had not divorced his first wife, Louisa "Eliza" Jane Horton Barron, who remained with their 4 children in Lee County, VA. WNG Barron, Jr. left his wife and family following the shooting death of John C. Johnson, in Lee County, VA. Johnson was a Captain in the Civil War, Company A, 50th Regiment of the Virginia Vol. Infantry, the same unit that the Barron Brothers were assigned. During the war, bitter feelings developed between the WNG Barron, Jr. and John C. Johnson, which were significantly deepened by the circumstances surrounding the death of Thomas Howard Benton Barron, at the July 9, 1864 battle at Monocacy, MD. Poor relations continued until WNG Barron Jr. shot and killed Johnson, following Johnson's assault on Barron at an election on May 28, 1874, Yokum Station, VA. It is believed that this shooting was justified, however, the victims' family vowed to kill WNG Barron, Jr., so he fled Lee County, VA. WNG Barron, Jr. was presumed to have been tried in a Virginia Court in absentia, and presumably found to be guilty. However, the authorities seemed to make no serious effort to bring WNG Barron, Jr. to legally account for his actions. He is thought to have fled to Texas, but moved on to Galena, Missouri, then, Joplin after his marriage to Mollie Gill. WNG Barron, Jr. lived quietly in Joplin, MO with his wife Mollie, and their son, John Patrick Henry Barron. Mollie was previously thought to have died between 1884-1887. However, research has shown that she married John R. Kavanagh. An exact date of their marriage has not been established, however, they were married by 1890. John Patrick Henry "Johnnie B. Kavanagh" Barron: Birth: abt1883 Death: Jan. 16, 1899 Joplin Jasper County Missouri, USA Age 16 Son of William Nathaniel Gale Barron, Jr. and Mollie Gill Barron, adopted son of John R. and Mollie Gill Barron Kavanagh. The only child, a son, of William Nathaniel Gale Barron Jr., and Mollie Gill Barron, John Patrick Henry Barron, (aka Johnnie B. Kavanagh)(Kavanaugh) who was about 4 when his father died, he passed away in 1899 at the age of 16, from spinal meningitis. He was attend business school at the time. He had been living with the J. R. and M. Kavanaugh (Kavanagh), who later moved to Kansas City, then Los Angeles. J.R. Kava agh was Joplin City Clerk in 1891. |

This does not agree with many lines declaring the same parentage because of dates of births etc of children. |

BEAR, Francis Marion |
I'm researching Francis Marion
Bear. He was born in Iowa about 1849. He lived in Bates
County and Kansas City. He married E.E. Farmer on Mar 20, 1871
(That's all I know about her) They had two children that I know
of together: Clara Bear and My line Nellie Pauline Bear.
Nellie Pauline Bear was born Feb 20 1875 in Missouri, I don't know what
county. She married Lensey Wine on Jul 6, 1891 in Mound City,
Linn County, Kansas. They lived in Rich Hill, Bates County
Missouri. Nellie died May 5 1916 in Rich Hill, Bates County
Missouri. I have children of Lensey Wine and Nellie Bear
as: Minnie, May, Bessie, Fred, Frank, Mydolian, James, Grace (my line),
and I was told she gave birth to twins which is the reason for her
death, the twins died and so did she. I don't know if that is
correct, but it's the story my grandmother told me, which is the great
granddaughter of Nellie and Lensey. I have obit's for Nellie and
her death cert and can't find anything that states if she died having
twins or one child or so on. I would like to find more info on
E.E. Farmer and if it's true that Nellie died having twins or
not. I don't believe she has a tombstone. P.S. I think most of the Bear/Wine line stayed in the same area for years and years. My line moved to Oklahoma. My grandmother is now gone and I only remember very few stories that she told me as a child, and some info that I found in her bible. |

BENTLEY | My name is Wilbur C. "Dub" Bentley. I was born in Texarkana, Texas, on March 2, 1927. My father, William Calvin Bentley, was born in Gentry County, Missouri, in November of 1888, and died in Little Rock, Arkansas, in November of 1955. His father, Isaac Jasper Bentley, was born in Gentry County in 1856, and died in Texarkana, Texas February 1, 1935. Isaac's father was Stephen Burkham Bentley and he was born in Marion County, Ohio, on September 22, 1831, but migrated to Gentry County in or about 1838, with his father, William Bentley and mother Sarah Burkham Bentley. William was born in or about 1892, in what is now Berkeley, WV, and migrated westward in the late 1820s or very early 1830s, arriving in Gentry County in or about 1838. This William was a farmer and also a Justice of the Peace and performed the first marriage in Gentry County. He served in the Mexican War and the Civil War as a member of the Confederate Army. He was discharged in March of 1863, due to being overage. It is said that he went to California and was never heard from again. His wife, Sarah Burkham Bentley, died in Gentry County in 1885, and is buried in the Henton Cemetery near Albany. Stephen Burkham Bentley also served in the Confederate Army and was captured at Vicksburg on July 4, 1883. He is also buried in the Henton Cemetery near Albany. He died on December 8, 1916, while visiting a son, Robert E. Bentley, of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. His wife, Margaret Ross, was born in Gentry County in 1832, and died there on April 6, 1886. She is buried in the Henton Cemetery near Albany. Isaac Jasper Bentley married Rhoda Jane Rhudy. Joseph and Ester Blackwell in
Hickory County, Missouri. I know that they arrived in
Hickory County in approximately 1831, probably along with
Joseph's brother, George Washington Blackwell and several children,
notably: for Joseph and Ester, Daniel and William F., and Samuel for
GWB, married to America. I believe this family came to MO from Meigs County, TN, but I have been unable to trace them conclusively backward. Joseph's parents may have been a John Blackwell and a Judith Churchill. Joseph's siblings are reportedly Armistead, Judith, Polly (Mary?) and the previously mentioned George Washington. |
