children and died at age 44. Her older sister, Elizabeth lived
with them by the 1880 census, In her later years she lived with
Martha’s youngest son Barthold Schnell. (There is a possibility
that Susanna first married Johann Georg Ullich in Suss, Germany around

immigrated with his Uncles to Pennsylvania) |

EVANS , John Wesley | father was William Evans, according to an
aunt. His
mother was
named Elizabeth, maybe Mary Elizabeth (Kiger) Evans.
I am still looking into that. John Wesley was staying with a man
named Lange Chandler. When John ran away from him, he went to Blytheville, AR, where he worked on farms and lived in what we called "field houses." He must have known some of his family in Hornersville, DunkinCounty, MO, because he ended up there and married Burnettie Branum. They lived in Hornersville until my aunt was in Junior High School. In the 1880 census of St. James, Mississippi Co., MO, a Joseph W. Evans and his wife Susan are listed with a thirteen year old daughter, Lucinda, and a one year old son, John Wesley. My aunt said that Grandfather had an older sister who married and moved to Michigan. Apparently, no one heard from her again. Grandfather must have had other brothers and sisters between the two of them, but I just realized that I haven't really checked into it. Lucinda was born in Alabama, so maybe some other siblings were too. Anyway, from this info, John Wesley Evans would have been in 1879, not 1882 as previously thought. In fact, the family thinks that his father may have died in 1882, instead. John Wesley Evans died in 1961 in Malden, Dunklin Co., MO. His mother then married a Hollandseed/Hollinsed/Hollinseed? and lived in Leachville, AR for a time. She died shortly after marrying Mr. Hollinseed. |
