JACOBS,
John M. |
born abt. 1813 in New Jersey
moved to St. Louis, Missouri with his wife, Sarah Ann Jacobs, nee
Fairbank, born abt. 1818 in Maryland, with his children in early 1850.
They were married in Baltimore, Maryland on August 18, 1836. John M.
died during the week of July 23, 1855, probably on July 16th or 17th,
in St. Louis, Missouri. Sarah Ann Jacobs remarried a John E. Detrich in
Randolf County, Sparta, Illinois on June 8, 1862. She died between 1880
and 1885. Sarah Ann's mother was also named Sarah Ann, but her maiden
name and husband's name are unknown. Looking for anyone who know Sarah
Ann Jacobs (nee Fairbank) Detrich's date of death, cemetery, or
parents' names. Also, look for the parents of John M. Jacobs. We think
his brother was Benjamin Jacobs, born abt. 1815 in New Jersey, who
married Elizabeth Fairbanks in St. Louis, Missouri on Novembert 4, 1851
and lived with James Fairbank (b. abt. 1797 in MD) in Andrew County,
Rochester, Missouri in 1860. |

JACOBY | |
JACQUET | Chillicothe, Livingston Co, Missouri area from 1870 to about 1885. Francis JACQUET(1817-1884) owned a farm there, but whether he ever lived there, or just purchased it for his son, I don't know. In 1870 John Michele JACQUET(the son) (1845-1922) is listed as having had a wife and daughter. The wife was Josephine Beauvallon (Bovalet), and the daughter, born Nov. 27, 1870, was Louise JACQUET (1870-1916). Their church would have been St. Columban's Catholic Church, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Francis JACQUET and his wife and children originally came from Les Houches, France in 1847, and settled in Louisville, Stark, Co, Ohio. That is, in fact, where Francis died in 1884. What I am not sure of is when or how he bought a farm in Missouri, or when his son got there. Any information on this, or genearal information on French immigrants to Missouri in the post Civil War period would be greatly appreciated. |

JONES, Newton |
and Adeline Jones from Alton,
Missouri, we believe mid-to-late 1800's. They were both 1/2
Cherokee. They had a daughter, Lillie Bell, year of birth
possibly 1872 (but maybe born in Tennessee, not Missouri?).
Lillie Bell married Louis Griffith. They had a daughter named
Stella (1st born), and we're not sure how many other children, but also
had another daughter later named Maude Griffith, our grandmother, who
married Edwin Evans (immigrated from Norway). Maude and Edwin
ended up in Spokane, WA, which is where we are. Our father, Earl
Evans, was born near here in Spirit Lake, ID in 1917. We'd like any additional information, especially parents of Newton and Adeline Jones, or even further back than that, if available. There was a Griffith's Drug Store(?) in Alton, MO. We also had information that Lillie Bell (Jones) Griffith died in 1923 and was buried in Portland, OR. We'd also heard that county records were destroyed in a fire at some point. |
