He stated on his Confederate Pension Application that he had married Solon Durham's sister and that Solon had lost two brothers to the Civil War. He also said he had a daughter who lived near Solon and Mary Durham at the time of the application which I now think would be Eastland Co TX. His daughter stated to him that Solon was very feeble. Francis Marion Lance is the son of Anthony Lance and Rosanna Simeral. His sister Louvicy who was a twin, married Calvin Murray in SE MO and had son Joseph F. Murray who was a witness on Mr. Lance's pension application. Joseph stated that he had known Francis Lance all his life, that Francis had been partly reared by his sister and her husband. There is a possiblility that these Durhams' were in SE MO from 1860-1868. Joseph Murray and his uncle, Francis Marion Lance were raised in Madison Co MO where Solon Durham was stationed. *Co E Shaver's Rgmt-TransMiss *Francis Marion Lance came to Texas in 1874 when daughter was 6. 4Brittania J. Before my father, Mack Lawrie,
birth date was April 6, 1900, passed away he had always told us he was
from St. Louis. He was an orphan having been deposited at some
household. He told us all birth records were destroyed in the
great fire of St Louis. He grew up with the family and referred
to May and Lee as some past connections in his life. He was a
newspaper boy and then took photo's in some large park in St. Louis on
Sundays for money. Later he joined a circus named the Robinson
Circus. That later became Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey
where he worked as a barker and taking care of the elephants. He
also was artistic and painted the Circus signs on the trucks etc. I am looking for any kind of family connection. I would like to leave a connection for my three children. |

LECHNER, Bernard | (or Ben) born in Amsterdam (4th April 1885) the Netherlands,
moved
to St. Louis before Married Florence (sirname unknown) who was born in
Shrewsbury, MO (St. Louis), USA They had one daughter, who
died in the age of app. 40 years. She also married and had 4 daughters. Her name, her husbands name and her daughters names are unknown. They moved to to San Diego, California in the 1930's and very little more is known about them. His brother Martin also moved to St. Louis. I have traced this side, but the family lost contact in app. 1930-'s. Ben and Martin started an import business importing tulip bulbs from Holland. Their primary customer was the Missouri Botanical Gardens which is still in existence in St. Louis. However, their business failed when a merchant ship torpedoed by a German U boat in WWI sank with their shipment of bulbs. They both then went to work for Railway Express. Martin worked in accounting and Ben became a vice president. Ben's duties also included a travel agency within the railroad. Can someone please help me find this missing link? I would appreciate it! PATRICK F. LOFTUS Born: November 15, 1863 County Mayo, Ireland Naturalized a United States Citizen on October 25, 1887 Died: Saturday, November 20, 1915 On Daughter's Farm Between Geddes & Lake Andes South Dakota Buried: November 25, 1915 Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri My Great-Great-Grandparent John Loftus, born Ireland, date unknown, whose wife's first and maiden names are presently not known, had at least two children in Ireland. The exact number of children born is unknown. The names of the two known children were Patrick Loftus and Delia Loftus. John Loftus had a brother Michael Loftus who married a Mary Hyland in Ireland and later moved to St. Louis, MO. Patrick and Delia had a first cousin, whose name was Ann Loftus. Anna Loftus' first marriage was to a Peter F. Finnegan, and her second marriage was to a August Siebuhr. Anna Loftus Finnegan Siebuhr, had a sister, who was also a first cousin of Patrick and Delia Loftus and she is identified as Catherine Kate Loftus. Catherine Kate Loftus married a Thomas "Tom" F. Connors, and they had 7 children identified John Connors, Joseph Connors and Margaret, Mary "Mamie", Winifred "Viola", Anna "Blanche", Loretta and Ester Catherine "Grace" Connors., Margaret Connors would later marry a Conrath. Anna Loftus Finnegan Siebuhr & Catherine Kate Loftus Connors' parents were Michael Loftus and Mary Hyland. I have no birth place information on Delia Loftus, born 12/25/1863?. PATRICK LOFTUS, my Great-Grandfather was BORN in Parish Kilmaine (Kilmainmore), Neale Post Office, Village of Blessingtown, County Mayo Ireland. Blessingtown appeared to be a small village or hamlet of approximately 30 structures. It was located on the north edge of Turloughaclava and is very close to the town or city of Ballinrobe, just to the southeast. The area is identified as being the Plains of Ellestrin. During the years 1879-82, when Patrick Loftus was approximately seventeen (17) years of age, my Great-Great-Grandfather John Loftus brought the family to America. They arrived in New York City, as the story was told and when he looked at New York, it appeared to him that America was a dirty country and so he packed up the family and returned to Ireland, with the exception of his son Patrick and daughter Delia who stayed in New York with their cousins names unknown. Patrick would then travel with an unknown cousin to St. Louis, Missouri where they lived with relatives. Delia would marry a Thomas C. Collins and have at least five children Harry, Henry, Edward V., Thomas J. and & Jeanette. Thomas and Delia would also settle in St. Louis, MO. Jeanette would marry a William Schilling and they would have several children. My GGF Patrick Loftus would first marry Maggie Loftus, daughter of A.E. Ed Loftus and Honora "Anna" Ball Loftus, from Caledonia, Minnesota. Maggie would give birth to Mary, Margaret "Maggie", Anna Laura, Francis "Frank" Patrick and William Loftus. After Maggie's death in 1894, Patrick married Margaret Walsh Lenart, daughter of Daniel Walsh born about 1814 in Ireland and Margaret (Feeley or Feehley)Walsh. Margaret (Feeley or Feehley) was born in England about 1829. Margaret Walsh Lenart was the widow of Frank G. Lenart, a barber in St. Louis, MO. The children born from this marriage were Edna, and twins Catherine "Grace" and Joseph "Harry" Loftus. Catherine "Grace" was my Grandmother. I am also researching the following surnames: Collins, Connors, Conrath, Siebuhr, Dougherty, Finnegan, Carl, Schnatzmeyer, Walsh, Lernart, Feeley, Feehley, Welch, Ball, Cocoran, Forschler, Brown, Hynes, Gavin, Mullen, Kearney, McCluskey, Kinyon, Hartog, Truesdale, Doerrer, Lehman, Schultz, Nichols, Sinkey, Tevlin, Zeller, and Hoelker. |

Frances Mariah Logan, their first-born daughter, born 6 MAR 1855, in Lexington, KY, and died 26 JAN 1946, in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO. I am searching for photographs of these three individuals to use in a book I am preparing for the congregation of Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Kansas City, MO. In 1944, Frances donated a large stained glass window as a memorial to her parents. The stained glass window was designed and fabricated by Dr. Charles Jay Connick (1875-1945) of Boston. Dr. Connick was considered by The New York Times to be the greatest stained glass artist in America at the death of Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) in January of 1933. Frances had two younger siblings, which she outlived. Only her brother lived in Kansas City. He was Dr. James Elmore Logan, born 16 OCT 1861, in Jessamine, KY, died 24 MAR 1928, in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO. Their sister moved to Chicago in the 1880s, and died there in 1931. Dr. James Logan's wife was the last of this family to die. She was Helen Richards Logan, born 9 MAR 1862 in Kansas, died 21 NOV 1949, in Kansas City, Jackson County, MO. If any one in this family ended up with the family photographs, it would have been Helen, and then her children, since she died last in Kansas City. I have not been able to determine if there were any children who survived Helen. |
