PAXTANG TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN CO, PA

Application:
I, MARY W. ELDER LOWRY, being of the age of eighteen years and upwards,
   hereby apply for membership in this Society by right of
   lineal descent in the following line from
ROBERT ELDER, AN OFFICER IN THE REVOLUTION
who was born in PAXTANG TOWNSHIP on the 11th day of June 1742             Wrong Robert!
and died in DAUPHIN COUNTY on the 29th day of September 1818                  Son of Rev. John Elder died childless
and who served in the War of the Revolution.
   I was born in the Township of LIGONIER, County of WESTMORELAND,
    State of PENNSYLVANIA.
   I am the daughter of:
                                    JOSEPH ELDER JR. and                                                       Joseph ELDER, Jr. (1811-1868)- Will
                                    ELIZA PENROSE, his wife, and

   granddaughter of:      JOSEPH ELDER SR, and                                 Joseph ELDER, Sr. (1770-1858) -Franklin Co PA
                                    JANE WALKER, his wife, and

   great-granddaughter of:
                                      ROBERT ELDER [1742-1818] and                            or   Robert ELDER of Franklin Co PA, d. 1807
                                      MARY THOMPSON [1750-1813], his wife, and                          

   great-great-granddaughter of
                                     JNO ELDER [1706-1792], and                                      or   James ELDER of Franklin Co PA, d. 1818
                                     MARY BAKER [4 chil.] his 1st wife,                                            
                                      + [2nd W.-- MARY SIMPSON, 11 chil..]

  great-great-great grandaughter of:                                                 NOT!!     Robert ELDER of Paxtang (1679-1746)
                                       ROBERT ELDER, and
                                       ELEANOR, his wife...             buried in      Paxton Presbyterian Church Cemetery

and he, the said ROBERT ELDER is the ancestor who assisted in
establishing American Independence, while acting in the
capacity of COL.  HE ENTERED HEARTILY INTO THE
CONTEST FOR INDEPENDENCE AND THROUGHOUT THE WAR
OF THE REVOLUTION WAS IN THE FIELD OR ENGAGED IN
ORGANIZING THE ASSOCIATORS.

ANCESTOR'S SERVICE:
Colonel Robert Elder--Educated in Chester County.
With his Scotch Irish  Neighbors he entered heartily into the
contest for Independence and throughout the War of the Revolution
was in the field or engaged in organizing the Associators--of
which he was Colonel.
