Meetings of the Society:
at
https://sites.rootsweb.com/~gacogs/learn/learn.html
"Meetings are usually held on the third Saturday at 2:00 pm in the
Athens-Clarke County Public Library auditorium, but variations in this
schedule are not uncommon.
"Meetings are announced in the COGS Quarterly, via email, and at this web site on the Meetings page.
"Although most meetings are free and open to the public, membership is
encouraged to enable us to bring in quality speakers that will help
further our understanding as family history researchers. Dues are also
used to purchase resources for local libraries and offset costs to
preserve historical data.
….Special
interest groups provide an informal opportunity for members working in
particular areas of research to get together to problem solve and focus
on resources and techniques available to assist them with their
research.
"We currently have one active special interest group "African American
Research". Meetings for this group are also posted on the Meetings page.
