Harvey Taylor ELDER, 87, of the Hall Nursing Home, 702 Columbia St.,
died at 9 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital
where he had been a patient for the last two weeks.
He was born in Knoxville, Iowa., on May 15, 1872 and had lived in
South Bend for the last 34 years,
coming here from Ottumwa, Iowa.
He was married in Ottumwa in 1904 to Edith Weldon, who died
in 1924.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Hurley and Mrs.
Marian Shaw,
both of South Bend; a son, Medford Bingham [Elder], of Seattle,
Wash.,
eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Ottumwa.
Friends may call at the Welsheimer Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

THE SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE, Saturday, November 16, 1957
CLYDE R. ELDER, of 332 S. 29th St., died at 3:20 a.m. today in Memorial
Hospital after an illness of a week.
He was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, April 23, 1905, and had lived
in South Bend since 1925,
coming here from Ottumwa. On Nov. 22, 1930, in Chicago he
married Helen C. Schafer, who survives.
Mr. Elder was general manager of the Swanson Construction Corp.
Surviving also are his father, Harvey ELDER, of South Bend; a son
James M., at home;
two sisters, Mrs. Henry Hurley and Mrs. George Shaw, both of South
Bend;
and a brother, Medford Bingham [ELDER] of Seattle, Wash.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday in the Welsheimer Funeral
Home.
Mr. Elder was a member of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. James,
Lakeville Lodge 353, F.& A.M.,
and the Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend.
