Meredith Adams Sheridan,family member, identifies this headstone as being David Northington. He is the son in law of Gen. Carney and the husband of Charlotte Slaughter Carney. (Also buried here are her parents and siblings.) He is known for his pride to the archivist of Port Royal and part of her home is built from the bricks from D. N.'s house. The Northington's were very prideful-David built his house to be higher than his brother's house and a later generation gave the family parrot a tombstone "Polly". Ann Alley told me that her Mother had known many stories of the Northingtons.
