Meredith Adams Sheridan,family member, identifies this headstone as being David Northington. He is the son in law of Gen. Carney and the husband of Charlotte Slaughter Carney. (Also buried here are her parents and siblings.) He is known for his pride to the archivist of Port Royal and part of her home is built from the bricks from D. N.'s house. The Northington's were very prideful-David built his house to be higher than his brother's house and a later generation gave the family parrot a tombstone "Polly". Ann Alley told me that her Mother had known many stories of the Northingtons. My father said that after the Northingtons arrived in Port Royal they kept the boat so they could go to the opera in New Orleans.  Back to Richard Carney Cemetery

James, son of Morgan & Alice Ledford Williams, was reared by his grandparents, James & Mary Bacon Ledford, who came to this community as freed slaves from a Kentucky Plantation. He was an Army Veteran of World War I, serving with Co. F. 82nd Pioneer Infantry, spending most of his tour in Argonne France. He trained as a blacksmith & shod horses used in the war. Eldon Ezekiel Buckner, son of Eldon Ezekiel Buckner Sr. and Ruth Anna Bumpus Buckner, was the wife of Cynthia Mawhinney Roylance Buckner. Mr. Buckner served two terms as president of the Clarksville Board of Realtors and was a charter member of East Montgomery Trail Riders. Also, he was a former member of the Clarksville Rotary Club.
