SPEID family: Alexander Speid is listed on the 'Royal Albert' journey to Port Chalmers (Nov 1852 - Mar 1853). He had married Agnes Lyall in Berwickshire, Scotland and they had nine children. Circa 1850 Agnes died and in 1852 widower Alexander sailed to Nes Zealand with eight of his Children, ranging in age from 6 to 19. They were: Marjory aged 19 (Married William Barr, from the ship 'Philip Laing' in Dunedin 1854 James aged 17 Jean aged 15 William aged 14 Helen aged 11 John aged 9 Agnes aged 7 Elizabeth aged 6 Alexanders eldest daughter, Margaret, had married James Oliver in Scotland, 1848.
