Note: Current owner says that Turkey Cut Road was once the old Walterboro-Bamberg Road. It appears that three families' farms are off this stretch of road: Carter, Raysor and Smoak. Going north on Turkey Cut Rd, the Carter graveyard is in the woods on the left (where I have drawn crosses). The Raysor place is way off the road to the left, where I have drawn a box. Near where Turkey Cut junctions with 362, the two chimneys on the right depict the Smoak home. Farther north on 362, go east on Howells Mill Road for about a mile and you'll find on the left the Old Zion Cemetery where Wm. M. Raysor and Annie Gavin Raysor are buried. There also is a road that goes west that is named "Raysor Road." I followed it to the end of the pavement, where it forks into two dirt roads. There are some older homes (maybe 1940s) but mostly single wide trailers back there. I wonder if all that land belonged to the Raysors?
Going northwest on 362, it is about 10 miles to Bamberg and about the same
( as the crow flies) northeast to Branchville. Hwy 321 goes into Ehrhardt.
