Daniel Rourke -
I am trying to find out more on Daniel Rourke who was born
around 1755 in Ireland. I believe him to be my GGGGG
Grandfather. He is listed in the "Passenger and
Immigration Lists Index", by P. William Filby with
Mary K. Meyer in Volume 3, O-Z, 1982 Supplement,
and the 1984 Supplement but NOT FOUND in the
1983 Supplement. He can also be found in "
Emigrants to Pennsylvania, 1641-1819", by Michael
Tepper.
I and other Rork relatives, I have found on the NET, have
traced Daniel Rourke, "Indenture in Philadelphia, 7 May
1773, Daniel Rourke from Ireland to John Englis and he
is assign apprentice for 4 years $16", Who married a
Theodosia Eldridge from Cape May, New Jersey.
My known GGGG grandfather John Rork who was born
around 1787 in New Jersey is traced with Daniel Jr.
born 17 Feb 1792 in Bridgeton, New Jersey and Silas
(Rork) Roark born in 1800. We believe John, Daniel Jr.
and Silas to be three of a number of children of Daniel
(Rourke, Roark, Roork) Rork Sr. and Theodosia Eldridge.
I have deed information on John and Daniel Jr. and Sr.
in Ohio where the two aforementioned Daniel's died.
My GGGG Grandfather John moved to Indiana where
a child of Daniel Jr. had moved a couple years before.
John moved to Indiana in 1838 and died there around
1852. John's son Bower had among his children a son
named William Harrison. Bower is my GGG Grandfather
and William Harrison is my GG grandfather.
William Harrison moved with his family including my G
Grandfather Sethco Thomas to Kansas in 1880 from
Indiana. Sethco Thomas lived and married and was
interred in Oklahoma. He and his wife came to
Topeka, Shawnee Co., Kansas to die in their son
Oscar William's house. Oscar William is my grandfather
and was born 24 Aug 1898, married 14 Feb 1920 and
died 19 May 1998. He did not make 100 but he came
close.
If you know of Daniel Rourke from Ireland I would like to
exchange information with you.

I don't have very much information to go on, but here is what little I do
know. My grandfather William O'ROURKE was married to a German woman named
Gertrude. They had four sons - William John, John William, Charles Francis
and Francis Charles (my father). They lived in the Park Slope section of
Brooklyn, NY. He was a alcoholic whose wife left him and her four sons. She
later married a man named Arnold Baker. I believe William O'Rourke died in
the early 1960's. My father (Francis, who always went by the name Frank )was
raised part of his life in a boys home. His older brother, William, worked
for the post office and lived in Long Island. He had three children -
William, Patricia and Theresa. His other brother John died in his late 20's
due to alcoholism. His youngest brother, Charles, died in the 80's from
suicide. Any information any one can give me would be greatly appreciated.

in Massachusetts soon after. By 1860 they and their family had settled in
Waseca County, Minnesota. I'm not sure of the spelling of Honora's name.
Different sources have different variations. (is anyone suprised?)

time of his death in 1887, 68 years old.

My Annie O'ROUKE left England for America after 1883. Annie's
daughter Gertrude ASCH was born in Bristol, England on November 21, 1883.
Annie (an Irish lass, I believe) married Samuel Asch (a German). I don't
know when, where, or why they met and married or when or where they were
born. In other words, I have no information on Annie and her husband other
than their names and the name and dates of their daughter Gertrude, who was
my great grandmother.
I hope someone out there can help me with this branch of my family. Thank
you for your help. It is greatly appreciated. Cindy - clement@cnetech.com

Constantine O'RORKE Sr. emigrated along with his second wife,
Anne McManus, and their children, as well as his brother Matthew, and Thomas
McManus and his son James McManus from Roscommon. Others that traveled with
them were farm and house workers and their families. Their names were
Martin Langdon, Thomas Gannon, Catherine Derry, Michael McDonald, and
Michael McLouhlin and they also settled in Montgomery County, NY, which
later became Herkimer County NY, by 1788. They, (Con and Anne), had 4
children Honor, Elizabeth, Constantine Jr., and Mary. Also an older Girl
named Bridget by Con's first wife Mary O'CONNOR. If any one could help or
recognises any of these names I am trying to locate where they might have
landed with either Con's own ship or one he
hired, in the NY area around 1790-1793 from Dromahaire, Leitrim, Ireland
or which ever port they left from in Ireland. Thank you for any help.

Hello! My name is Thomas Johnathon Livingston O'Rourke III. I live in San
Francisco, but was born in Chicago, IL. As a new internet user, I was more
than pleased to find information regarding our family history so readily
accessible! My question(s) is(are): Who were the first O'Rourkes to
emmigrate to the United States? When? Where did they settle? I also welcome
any other information that anyone can supply me.
Thank you for such a wonderful research tool that is not only very informative
and comprehensive, but also well designed and elegant!
Tom
Reply: Tom, I don't know the first O'Rourke emigrants to reach the
U.S.A. Perhaps some of our readers can supply their candidates for the
first O'Rourke, O'Rorke, Ruark, Roarke, etc. I would be happy to start a new
web page which highlights "The Early Immigrants," which could be applied
to not only the U.S., but also Australia and other new lands. Any takers?
