Joseph and Helena WEEDEN (née MIMMS)

joseph Joseph WEEDEN was born on 30th August 1863 to Richard James and Sarah Elizabeth WEEDEN (née DOWNES) at 59, Gainsford St,Southwark St John.

Not at home in 1911. His occupation was noted as porter on his son Richard's marriage certificate.

He died of T.B. on 24th May 1923, just 2 months after his daughter Ada , and he is buried with her at Nunhead cemetery.

helena + gt g'children Helena MIMMS was born on 12th April 1866 to James and Mary Ann MIMMS (née WOOD) at 1 Dockhead Place, Bermondsey.

In 1911, she was with the younger 5 children in Bermondsey. In her latter years she lived at each of her children's homes in turns for part of the year.She was a great character. Mum admired her greatly, and loved her to take her turn staying at the Chalet in Downham. Apparently she used to drink gin in the Rampant Horse Inn in Downham Market.

She died on 16th May 1960 and is buried with Joseph and Ada at Nunhead.

at All Saint's Church, Newington.

They had 8 children

Joseph William was their first child born in Feb 1889. He died from bronchitis on 13 Jun 1889, at 3,Truscott Court, Horsleydown.	Lilian Louise Ada was born on 29 September 1896. Not at home in 1911. She married twice. her first husband was David Duncan GUNNING whom she married in 1922. Her second husband was John MATTHEWS. They married in 1952. She died on 2nd Jan 1968 at Lewisham Hospital, aged 71.
Albert was born on 10 May 1890 in Horsleydown. Aged 20 in 1911. He married twice. His first wife was Alice HEARD and they married in 1913. His second wife was Maud LLOYD. He was an undertaker. He died in 1977 of bronchopneumonia.	Florence Gladys Margueritte was born on 6th March 1899. Aged 12 in 1911. Flo married three times. Her first husband was Alf PETTY whom she married in 1921.They had one son, Reginald. Her second husband was John TRUNLEY (known as the Fat Boy of Peckham) whom she married in 1927,and with whom she had a son, John. Her third husband was Jim ROBINSON whom she married in 1948. She died on 14 Jan 1986 aged 86.
Richard Ernest was born on 15 August 1892 . Aged 18 in 1911. He met Emma CHAPMAN whilst she was working in London. They married in 1915 in London. My grandparents. Click here for more about Richard & Emma's family. He was in the army during WW1 and later in the police force. He died on 23 May 1974 in King's Lynn hospital, Norfolk, aged 81.	Ada Louise was born on 17 Feb 1902. Aged 9 in 1911. She died just three weeks after her 21st birthday, of pneumonia, on 10 March 1923, and was buried at Nunhead cemetery.
Marian Helena Alice was born in Nov 1894. She lived for just a year, dying in the winter of 1895.	Henry William(Harry), was born on 8 Feb 1905. Aged 6 in 1911. Harry married twice. He married Marjorie GINMAN in 1929 with whom he had 3 sons. He married Elizabeth RUMNEY in 1984, two years after Marjorie died in 1982. Harry died on 26 Feb 1991, aged 86.
