ARRIVAL OF THE GOTHIC.

The Shaw-Savill steamer Gothic arrived in the stream at 4.20 this morning, and was berthed at No. 1 south, Queen's Wharf, at about 9.15 o'clock. The purser (Mr. W. S. Inman) reports that owing to fog, the steamer did not leave the Royal Albert Docks, London, until Friday, 21st October, instead of Thursday, 20th October. She carried fine weather down the Channel, arriving at Plymouth at noon on the Saturday. The remainder of the passengers and the mails were embarked, and the voyage was continued at 3 p.m. the same day. Strong southerly winds and head sea were encountered until arrival at Teneriffe on the 27th October. Leaving the same evening the vessel proceeded to Capetown, falling in with N.E. trade winds in latitude 10 north, then experiencing variable winds to the equator, when light S.E. trade winds were picked up, and fine weather continued until arrival in Table Bay. The Gothic left Capetown on 12th November, and experienced strong winds and moderate gales from S.W. to N.W. to 140 deg. east, when fresh northerly winds with cloud and fine weather was met and continued until arrival at Hobart on the 1st December. The vessel discharged 353 tons of cargo and took in 10,800 bars of silver lead bullion and 622 bags of bark, and proceeded at 6.12 p.m. for Wellington, and experienced strong south-westerly to southerly winds with heavy to rough sea throughout the passage and until arrival in port.
