The RUAPEHU departed London on 13 September, 1893 and arrived in Wellington, via Teneriffe,
Capetown and Hobart, on 4 November, 1893.

ARRIVAL OF THE RUAPEHU FROM LONDON.

The N.Z.S. Co.'s SS Ruapehu left Plymouth at 4.45 pm on 16th September, arrived at Teneriffe at noon on 21st. and after taking in 365 tons coal proceeded on her way to Capetown at 10.25 am on 22nd, arriving there at 8.30 pm on 8th October. After disembarking 17 passengers and mails and embarking 15 passengers and mails, sailed for Hobart at noon next day, arriving there at 0.40 pm on 29th. Landed 29 passengers and 300 tons cargo, and left for Wellington at 1pm on 30th. arriving in harbour at 12.30 this morning, and after being inspected by the Health Officer was berthed alongside the Queen's Wharf at 8 am. Encountered a heavy southerly gale after leaving the Cape, which lasted six days. The health of all on board (with the exception of two deaths recorded elsewhere) was good. The usual amusements were held throughout the voyage. The Ruapehu brings about 2000 tons of cargo for all ports, of which about 1100 tons are for Wellington. She remains here until Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning next, proceeds thence to Lyttelton, and, returning, makes this her final port of departure for Home.
