WEATHERSFIELD
The WEATHERSFIELD departed London on 19 October, 1881, on its maiden voyage and arrived in Wellington on 24 January, 1882, with Captain Sherris in command.
Transcribed from the Auckland ‘Star’ for Saturday, 9 December, 1882. Page 2.
ARRIVAL OF THE WEATHERSFIELD FROM LONDON.
The mate of the steamer Glenelg informs us that a full-rigged ship, evidently bound for Auckland, was passed off Cape Brett this morning. She showed numbers, but they were not made out. This vessel is almost certain to prove the Weathersfield (Captain Sherris), which left London on August 18th, consigned to the N.Z. Shipping Company, and is therefore, 113 days out to-day. She brings a large and valuable cargo, and the following passengers:-

Late this afternoon a "sail in sight'' was signalled from Mount Victoria, and should this be the Weathersfield, she may be expected in harbour this evening, having a fine northerly breeze.
