We leave that up to the researchers themselves. Your submissions are VERY welcome. Please click on a name in the index to see the documents and notes which appear to have something to do with that person.

INTERESTING SITES FOR SPRATLEN RESEARCHERS
SpracklenThis site is dedicated to the research of the Spracklen surname. The one thing Shelia Lee has found is that the name goes back to England - and as far back as 1100. The spellings have been corrupted MANY times and Sprakelyn(ing) is the root for the Spratlen surname as well. Spratlin(len-ling) as well as Spradlin(len-ing) - all derive from the spellings of Spracklen(in-ing) and Sprakelin(en-ing) according to Shelia Lee's research.
The Spradlin Branches This just may possibly be a related line. It is an interesting and informative site.
This Google site offers some genealogy books by Marian Dodson Chiarito with records specific to Halifax County, Virginia. You may be able to order some of her books through interlibrary loan.
Another gold mine of information can be had by going to 1785 HALIFAX COUNTY, VA HEADS OF FAMILIES where I found several more surnames the same as those of Pittsylvania County folks.
This new homepage for the Southern Trails list at Rootsweb has a lot of interesting links. Even if your ancestors never went further south than VA, KY or TN, I bet you'll find these links helpful. --Karen Heggen The Southern Trails Resource Page
THE FIRST U.S. MAP-1784 - Take a look at this map. It goes a long way toward explaining why ancestors living in Virginia were suddenly living in Tennessee or Kentucky.
