Christened at Schraalenburg, Bergen, New Jersey in the Dutch Reformed Church. Son of Richard and Jannetje Brouwer Truman who were married about 1738. He was the third of three children. Paternal grandparents were Richard Truman and Cornelia Haring. Maternal grandparents were Adolphus Brouwer and Jannetje Verdon or Fardon. Listed as Petrus on christening. Listed in tax list of Rumbout Precinct of Dutchess County, New York. This is probably in Fishkill where the family was known to reside. Adolphus Brouwer, maternal Grandfather of Peter Truman had connections to Dutchess County as early as 8 October 1741 when he bought land and was listed as of Bergen County, New Jersey.

Married Elizabeth Harris. This comes from New York Marriage bonds, vol. IX, p.231. New York Marriages Prior to 1784; Ogden FHL Book 974.7 V25ny There was a Francis Harris in Dutchess Co., New York land records in June 1771, and a Joseph Harris witnessed a christening at New Hackensack, Dutchess Co.,17 Sep 1775.

Alburgh was settled by loyalists who thought they were in Canada. In a report from Harriet Stryker-Rodda she states that the Peter Truman clan had come up from Orange County, New York where they had been loyalists. Probably married Hannah, his second wife about this time.

It was a common practice to name a child of a 2nd marriage after the deceased first wife.

His daughters, Adeliza Lauretta and Anna Maria, state in the 1880 federal census of Peoa, Summit, Utah, FHL Film #12553387, that he was born in Connecticut.

His son, Jacob Mica Truman, does not give a place of birth in the 1880 federal census of Truman Ranch, Gunlock, Washington, Utah FHL Film #1255339

May have been named after John Churchwell and Francis Harris.

She came across the plains sometime during 1854 in the Peregrine Sessions Company, with her mother, Martha Spencer Truman, her uncle, George Spencer, and her two sons, John Bunnell Barnum, and Henry James Barnum. Moved to Peoa, Utah from the Big Cottonwood area of the Salt Lake Valley, with her children and other members of the Truman family, in 1860. Was one of the first school teachers in Peoa.
