Abraham & Rebecca (Reynolds) Darland

Abrahan was a son of
Lambert and Martha (Van Arsdalen) Darland.
He was born on December 6, 1796 in Kentucky. He married Rebecca Reynolds
Carter on December 15, 1818/1819. She was born on April 15, 1799/1800 in
North Carolina. She was the daughter of William Reynolds of North
Carolina and granddaughter of Thomas Reynolds of Highland, Scotland. Her mothers name is unknown, but she was from Ireland.
Abraham died on February 13, 1852.
Rebecca first had married a man by the name of Carter who was killed
shortly after their marriage. Next she married Abraham Darland. Finally,
her third marriage was to Charles B. Ruble. Rebecca was a sister to
Alsey Reynolds who married Abraham's brother,
Isaac Darland.
Rebecca was the first white woman to settle on the west side of the
Little Wabash River in Parke County, Indiana. Rebecca is
buried in Boswell cemetery near Barnes City, Iowa.
