14 AUGUST 1840, Friday
At Wadebridge, on Thursday, the 6th instant, Mrs. Nevell Norway, widow
of the late Mr. Nevell Norway, whose barbarous murder we had to record a
few months ago. She never recovered the shock of that dreadful event;
and a short time has sufficed to reunite in death those who were so
tenderly attached in life.
On the 24th of July, at the house of his son-in-law, Charles Prideaux
Brune, Esq., Charles-street, Barkeley-square, London, E.J. Glynn, Esq.,
formerly of Glynn, near Bodmin, aged 77 years.
On the 15th of July, at the Baths of Lucas, Italy, where he had been
residing for the benefit of his health, in the 45th year of his age, P.
Young, Esq., lately of Truro, and Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk.
On the 11th instant, at Penzance, the wife of Richard Edmonds, Esq.,
solicitor.
At Probus, on the 5th instant, Mrs. Bennallack, aged 76 years. She was a
member of the Methodist Society about 56 years, and died "in the Lord."
On Saturday last, at Chyvogue, Perranarworthal, Rosina, daughter of Mr.
Thomas Tregaskis, aged 15 months.
At Penryn, on Monday last, Frederick, son of Mr. Barnicoat,
wheel-wright, aged 20 years.
On the 3rd instant, at Falmouth, the infant son of Mr. Pascoe, of the
Victory Inn.
At St. Ives, on the 10th instant, after a short illness, Mr. Edwin
Wearne, merchant, aged 27 years, sincerely and deservedly regretted by
his family and friends. Mr. Wearne was the youngest son of Roger Wearne,
Esq., and was for several years a local preacher in the Wesleyan
Methodist connection.
At Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on the 3rd instant, Miss Treeve, sister-in-law
to James Edgcome, Esq., collector of the customs at that port, and
formerly a resident of Penryn.
On the 5th inst. at Summerland-place, Exeter, after six days' illness,
Ann Cranmer Miller, the wife of the Rev. Marwood Tucker jun., and
daughter of the late Mrs. Blencowe, of Pengreep, in this county, aged 38
years.
At Callington, on Thursday last, Samuel, the only son of T.R. Ellis,
Esq., in the 27th year of his age.
21 AUGUST 1840, Friday
At St. Blazey, on the 13th instant, Mr. Richard Bennetts, late of the
Cornish Arms Inn, aged 32 years.
At Lostwithiel, on Saturday, the 8th instant, after an illness of seven
months, Elisabeth, daughter of Mr. William Ferris, builder, in the 19th
year of her age.
At Hayle, on Saturday last, Mr. Henry Morley, aged 28 years.
Lately, at St. Ives, Mr. James Trevorrah, aged 40 years.
On Sunday last, at Blisland, near Bodmin, Catherine, wife of Mr.
Nicholas Male, aged 30 years, sincerely regretted by a numerous circle
of friends and acquaintances.
On Saturday last, at Pennare, Goran, James, son of Mrs. Mary Liddicote,
aged 25 years. He had been in a declining state for a long time, but the
day being fine, he went with his mother for a short walk; and on their
return, when near the house, he dropped on his knees, said "I am dying."
and expired on the spot.
On the 12th instant, at Maer House, near Stratton, after a short
illness, Thomas Wentworth Gould, Esq., of Bathealton Court, Somerset,
and nephew of the late Countess of Strafford, aged 45 years.
At Stratton, on Wednesday se'nnight, Mr. John Ching, fellmonger, at an
advanced age.
Last week, at Exeter, aged 72 years, Mr. John Malland, a liberal
benefactor to every good work.
28 AUGUST 1840, Friday
At Falmouth, on Tuesday, the 25th instant, after a fort'night's illness, Jane Mary, only daughter of Capt. Nichols; of the "Sir F. Drake" steam-packet, in the 14th year of her age � sincerely regretted by her numerous friends and relations.
At Ventonveth, in the parish of Veryan, on the 13th instant, the wife of Mr. William Jewel, yeoman, aged 55 years.
At Bodmin, on Saturday se'nnight, Mr. George Hoskin, aged 85 years.
On Wednesday, the 19th instant, at St. Stephens in Branwell, Julian, wife of Mr. John James, at an advanced age, sincerely regretted by a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances.
On Sunday last, of consumption, Mrs. Sleep, wife of Mr. John Sleep, of Torpetherwin, Lewanick, aged 35 years.
At Biscovey, St. Blazey, on Wednesday last, aged 80 years, Mr. Samuel Daw, yeoman, many years member of the society of Friends.
At Hayle, on Saturday last, the infant son of Mrs. Gregory.
On Tuesday, the 18th instant, at St. Enoder, Mr. Walter Andrew, aged 69 years, sincerely regretted by a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances.
