A sincere thank you goes to the many family members who had the foresight to document their part of these family memories and history. Special thanks goes to my Aunt Jessie who started keeping records many years ago, to my Aunt Dorothy who wrote of long ago, and to my son David, who spent many hours getting the records developed, straight, and onto a word processor. He's also been my mentor for learning how to set up a web page!

Some of the latest changes to this web site include an aerial view of the Bennett farm, and a unique story concerning the family of Ann Abbott's sister Elizabeth which goes into some detail on the history of the McKillen and Abbott family. Could there be royalty there??? See if you can find the answer under the family names "McKillen and Abbott".

    EMPIRE PRAIRIE SESQUICENTENNIAL

August 4, 5, 6, 2006 was the date of the Empire Prairie Sesquicentenial. Former residents, relatives of residents and a number of descendants of the original settlers came together for a great weekend of visiting, looking at the old home places, and lots of reminiscing. A pictoral record is included and can be viewed here: Empire Prairie homecoming

A direct route to the photo journey of the activities and displays during the celebration can be viewed here: Photo Journey

Tom Simkin has added an additional aspect of history by providing pictures from 1916-1917 of the Nugent and related families, as well as a number of additional pictures taken the weekend of the Sesquicentennial. Nugent Family Photos and photos by Tom Simkin.

Additional photos are contained here: Candid photos.

They were divided up to load faster, and to acomodate some that just didn't "fit" directly into the celebration. Others were similar in nature to those in Photo Journey.
