Bradish Surname Research

The Bradishes on RootsWeb

Purpose: To make documented Bradish surname information available to genealogical and historical researchers. Information to be included will be related to, but not limited to, the descendants of Robert Bradish; immigrant Bradishes who came after 1635 (or before, of course, if we find documented evidence); Bradishes in Britain, Ireland, Australia, and other world locations; and presently unconnected Bradishes. (Statements about this site's construction, where it is going, contributing, documentation, copyright, feedback and who I am are located below this category selection table.)

Site Construction: It is intended to be simple and not fancy (minimal graphics, and no frames or Java applets are planned) in order to be compatible with as many browsers as possible and fast loading. I will follow the NGS (National Genealogical Society) "Guidelines For Publishing Web Pages On The Internet" and "Standards for Use of Technology In Genealogical Research" as much as possible.

Navigation will be kept straightforward. The category table above links to pages which either have the information or link through subcategories to subsequent pages. Each page should have links to return to this page or pages linked in the above category table.

Genealogical data is organized by the first Bradish immigrant/s or family for each Bradish line within each category. Robert Bradish (first heard of in 1635) will be one of them. As others surface they will be added.

Where It Is Going: My intent is to place as many documented pieces of Bradish information as I can on this site for researchers. This includes but is not limited to: textual lineages, lists of useful information, GEDCOMs, mail lists, message boards, web sites and sources, printed and microfilmed sources, pictures of Bradishes, and reunion information. A fuller explanation of each category heads each category page.

Being able to place all Bradish information on this site initially is clearly an impossible task. Subsequent updates will never be able to place all (even just known) Bradish data or links here. On the other hand, I definitely don't have a corner on the market when it comes to knowing or having such information because most of what I have is in support of my own Bradish genealogy. This site needs contributions by others to grow into a proper web site for research.

Contributing: Clearly contributions are welcome. In keeping with good genealogical principles, please support data and information contributed with cited sources. This does not mean each and every element must have every person, relationship and event "proved". Do your best and give permission with contact information for others to follow up with you. You might find a real wealth of data coming back your way.

To contribute data, images, links or other information, please contact me about what you have. Don't be bashfull (click here to contact me via e-mail).

Documentation: The citing of sources will be as straightforward as I can manage and as complete as contributors provide (see Contributing above).

Copyright: No, I am not claiming copyright to all the Bradish information on this web site. The copyright is done to avoid others from legally copying the site and posting it as their own. I expect the copyright of much of the material here will belong to others (publishers and genealogists mostly) and will be cited as such on this site for each instance. Cyndi Howell (of "Cyndi's List" fame) has a portion of her site focused on the copyright issue (click here to see it if you wish to learn more). She has been the victim of others copying her work and posting it elsewhere, sometimes with the copier taking credit for her effort.

Feedback: I won't be able to satisfy everyone with this web site (including myself), but I can't improve my efforts if I don't hear from you with comments and suggestions. Please let me know if there are any broken links as well. Feedback is welcome (please click here to provide it).

Who I Am: I am Peter Keith Bradish, an 11th generation descendant of Robert Bradish (first heard of in Cambridge, Mass., in 1635). My wife Connie and I are retired. We travel 8 months a year in North America in a motor coach with 4 cats visiting friends and family, seeing the land, going to RV rallies, playing golf and, of course, researching our genealogies on-site. We write articles for Everton's Genealogical Helper including the application of computer technology to genealogy. We are not vendors and have nothing to sell. We do what we do for the enjoyment of it, nothing else.
