In the mid thru late 1800s the D. G. Beers Co. compiled and published
a series of county atlases taken from actual surveys and official
records.

The following pages are indexes for Clinton County, New York done in
1869 and republished by Heart of the Lakes Publishing Company in the
1970s. The towns and villages index is an alphabetical list of those
shown on the maps. Some of the villages no longer exist.

The name index is a list of persons shown on the maps. ONLY LAST
NAMES with an initial are given 90% of the time. I have included
first names when they were shown. The spelling is as it appears on
the maps, some you can tell where misspelled. When I could not read
the name clearly, I underlined it or used dashes for missing letters.

Many of the maps have a Business Notice section that gives occupation
or type of business for subscribers to the atlas. If the name you are
interested in is followed by "Bz. Notice", please contact me
and I will be happy to look it up. If it isn't, then I cannot help
you determine an occupation or business.

If you need to know where the village or township was located or
where a certain name is located on the map, I'd be happy to look that
up for you. Please remember these maps are over 100 years old and I
do not have a modern day map with detailed road/street information so
I cannot give you an exact address.

These maps DO NOT CONTAIN FAMILY INFORMATION and I will not
respond to questions of that nature.

Also I DO NOT KNOW where you could purchase one of these books. You
can try stores selling "out of print books" or get lucky at
a flea market. I'm told most large libraries have them for you to look
at. I realize the following copy of the maps are not as clear as you
might like but it is the best I could do with my equipment. Also be
aware they are large files and will take time to load.

These are great "tools" to help locate where an ancestor may have
lived. They are not legal proof they did live there. You still need to
do that court house search!

Enjoy and good hunting to all.
