Welcome!

A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE STRONG GENEALOGY NETWORK

The Strong Genealogy Network, was informally organized circa 1994 as a consortium of family historians and amateur genealogists researching the surnames below. The goal of the group was to share data about persons with the surname Strong or any similar surname: either phonetically similar, graphically similar, or etymologically similar. That is, names that sound similar to Strong, look similar to Strong in cursive writing, or which have a similar meaning or derivation as the surname Strong. Some of these names are Strong, Stronge, Strang, Strange, leStrange, L'Estrange, LesStrang, deLestrange, D'Estreng, d'Estreng, String, Streing, Strain, Strangeways, Strangman, and Strongman. Additionally, researchers of surnames sounding somewhat like Strong, such as Straughn, Strawn, Strachan, Straffen, were invited to share information re spelling changes of surnames perhaps misrecorded in official and private records.

A goal of the group is to find common ancestors and living "cousins". Other goals and purposes were suggested in the Proposed "Mission Statement"

Unfortunately, time has shown it to be difficult, if not impossible to maintain the network as folks lost interest, died, or changed links without informing others. The spirit of the network lives on, however. You are encouraged to explore those links which remain active, and make inquiries as appropriate.

The Strong Genealogy Network now consists of the following components:
