Dear Karen,

Peter Ellet was not a Swede. He did not arrive in Darby in 1663. In that year there was no Darby Twp.. He came with the "Quaker invasion" of 1682-83 and on 14 October 1683 purchased the 175-acre plantation of Anders Andersson Homman (the former New Sweden trumpeter, who then moved to Repaupo Creek in Gloucester County) for 175 pounds. The plantation was in Carcus Hook, a part of Kingsessing on the north side of Mill (Darby) Creek. Peter and his family lived among the Swedes there, but they were not members of the Swedish church and did not otherwise display Swedish roots.
