Dunvegan Castle Once Again
This castle is less forbidding than it looks. It is crammed with MacLeod family memorabilia - much of it quite personal and modern. The gift shop proved a fertile source of Christmas presents for my Scottish American relatives. I bought a succession of small things, mere novelties really, joking to the clerk that my Scottish blood made me thrifty. The clerk, a bespectacled blonde woman with the hardy look of the Norse, retorted that the Scots were naturally generous, and that so was I.
