MAJOR SURNAMES: NAGY, OROSZ, HOLLOSI, SZUCS, SETE

OROSZ - The Name History and Origin - ethnic name for a Russian, orosz, from Turkish urus, in turn derived from Russian Rusak 'Russian', which owes its origin to a Scandinavian term meaning 'oarsman', 'rower' (a reference to the fact that the Russian state was first established by scaninavians who rowed their ships inland from the Baltic sea).

NAGY - The Name translated means 'big or large' person

Because of the difficulty in researching my Hungarian roots, I had my MtDNA tested through the National Geographic-IBM Genome Project. The results indicate that my MtDNA is Haplogroup I. Please let me know if you are also Haplogroup Group I.
