  JOSEPH MINGE was born Bef. 1696 in State of Virginia, and died 01 December, 1750 in Chowan Co., NC. He married RACHEL WARD Bef. 17 October, 1722, daughter of JAMES WARD and MARY STIBALL.

In the Name of God Amen the first Day of December 1750 I Joseph Ming of the Provence of North Carolina in the County of Chowan being sick and Weak in body but of Perfect mind and Memory Thanks be given unto God--Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye Do make and Ordain this my Last will and Testament--

That is to Say Principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul unto the hands of God that gave it and My body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried in decent and Christian manner at the Descretion of my Executors hereafter Named Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall Receive the same again by the Mighty Power of God and as Touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me in this life I give Devise and Dispose of the Same in the following manner and form--

Imprimis  I give and bequeath to My Son Thomas Ming the plantation and Tract of land that I purchased of Wm Jones contain Two hundred Acres be the same more or less To him and his heirs for Ever lawfully be gotton of his body and for want of Such heirs to Return to his family  Also I give to my Son Thomas Ming a parcel of New land known by the name of Bridge Neck in the County of Perquimans Containing and hundred and Thirty Acres be the Same more or less to him and the heirs of his body lawfully begotten and for want of Such heirs to Return to his family  Also I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas ming one Negro boy Named Seasor to him and the heirs of his Body lawfully begotten also I give to my Son Thomas ming one feather Bed and furniture  Also I give and bequeath to my Well be loved Wife Rachel ming one feather Bead and furniture also my will is that my Son Thomas Ming have three years Schooling beside the year that he is now entered for also I give the use and occupation of three negroes to my well beloved wife during her widowhood.  If she marrys the use and Occupation of the two old negroes During her Natural life known as aforesaid to be Jack and Mall and then to Return they and their Increce to my Devision to be Equally Devided between my Three Daughters Sarah Wilkins Annarito Collins and (*Mary Ming) them and the heirs of Their bodys lawfully begotton for Ever also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sara Wilkins one Negro garil named Cabe and to the Heirs of her body also I give unto my Daughter Annarito Collins one negro garil named Bess To her and the heirs of her body lawfully begotton  (*also  I give to my Daughter Mary Ming one negro garil named Jennie to her the heirs lawfully begotton of her Body for Ever and for want of Such heirs to Return to my two grandsons Joseph Wilkins and Joseph Collins and their heirs for Ever  Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Ming two cows and calves and one breading Mare) also I give to my grand son Joseph Wilkins and Joseph Collins Each of them one Breeding Mare also my will is that the schooling of my Thos. Ming aforsaid be raised out of my Stock of hogs before division also I give to my son Joseph Ming one negro boy named Dick to him and his heirs for Ever at the Day of his Mothers Dearth or Marriage also I give to my son Joseph Ming one feather Bed and furniture (*Also I give to my Daughter Mary Ming six likely young sheep also one suit of desent cloaths to be raised out of my stock of hoggs before Division.  Likewise I give to my Daughter Mary Ming one Breeding mare)  also I give to my Son Thomas Ming one young horse I allso give to my Son Joseph Ming one young horse my will is that my son Thomas Ming should possess his horse at the age of eighteen I also give to my Son Thomas Ming one suite of cloathes to be Raised out of my Stock of hoggs before devision also my will is that if are a one of the aforesaid negroes before mentioned that is already given to my Children Dye before they Possess them my will is that they should be made up out of the Increase of the old Stock of negroes Before given to my wife and as for the Remainder Part of my Estate moveble within doors and without to be Equally Divided Between my well beloved wife Rachel Ming and my Son Joseph Ming and Thomas Ming  also my will that my Son Joseph Ming and Thomas Ward may have the care of all the land that I have given to my son Thomas Ming Till her arives to be the age of one and Twenty and likewise his Stock of Catle horses and to be setled upon his New land in Bridge Necke before mentioned at his also my will is that my wife should not be De Bared from working on any of the said land Before given During her widowhood and lastly I constitute and appoint my Trusty and well beloved wife Rachel Ming my whole and sole Exer and Exertrix fo this my Last will and Testament of this my last will and testament and I do here by uterly Disallow revoke and Disannul all and Every other former Testament wills legaces and bequeaths and by me in any way before Named Ratifying and Confirming This and No Other to be my Last will and Testament in witness whereof I have heereunto set my hand and Seal the Day and year above Writen.

It is my will and Desire (*that my) that the above mentioned Legacie given to my Daughter Mary Ming should be raced out of the will bearing the Date herementioned the first day of December 1750  I give and bequeath to my wife Rachel Ming one negro garil Named Jane also I give and bequeath to my wife Rachel Ming two Cows and calves and one breading mare also I give and bequeath to my wife Rachel ming Six likely young Sheep also one suit of Decent Clothes to be raised out of my stock of hogs before division

Likewise I give to my wife Rachel Ming one Breading Mare Likewise I give to my wife Rachel ming one feather bed and furniture also I give to my wife Rachel ming one negro boy Named Sam Item: I give to my Daughter Mary ming then shillings sterling money.

My will and Desire is that this should be anext to the above mentioned will bearing the Date ye first day of December in the year 1750.
