Sylvia A. Smith



WAYNESBORO -- Sylvia A. Law Smith, 57, of 12279 Old Pen Mar Road, Waynesboro, and a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home since March 16, died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001, in the nursing home at Quincy. She was in failing health the past two years and critically ill the past week.

Born Oct. 4, 1943, in Waynesboro, she was a daughter of Melba Wade Law, Waynesboro, and the late Harold Law.

She was a member of Ringgold United Church of Christ, Ringgold, Md.

Mrs. Smith lived her early life in Frederick, Md., attending school there.

She married Melvin F.D. Smith on June 22, 1968, in Hagerstown, Md., and they moved to their present residence in 1977. He died Sept. 1, 1994.

For 20 years she worked in the housekeeping department at Waynesboro Hospital.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Melvin F. of Waynesboro; three sisters, Catherine Moats of Waynesboro, Lynn Law of Tomstown and Carole Law of Frederick; three brothers, Arnold Law and David Law, both of Waynesboro, and Ronald Law of Pen Mar, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Warren Rice will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
