Fincher Family Letters and Papers

A Collection of Papers from the Fincher Family
of Pike County, Georgia, 1830-1920
Scroll divider bar

These papers are in the private possession of descendants of the Fincher family.  Many are very difficult to read because of age, mold, rust spots, and folds.  All the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation (or lack thereof) have been left as close as possible to that of the original papers.  Some spaces have been added by the transcriber to clarify breaks between sentences.  The papers have been transcribed personally by the web page author, Linda Fincher Wood, great granddaughter of Joseph Travis Fincher of Pike County, Georgia.  ** Please be aware that the letters, photographs, etc., can be used for your own research but not published on another website or in written material without permission.

My thanks to all of you who have written such encouraging notes in my guestbook. Please forgive me that I have not contacted each of you. Due to time restraints of family (my mother will be 99 years young on March 3, 2010), personal commitments, and, of course, my grandchildren, I haven't spent much time in the past few years on genealogy.  However, I'm gradually getting back into the "family search mode," so please stay connected.  Perhaps there will suddenly appear some piece of paper in the collection that mentions your ancestor.  Please don't forget that all material on this site is copyrighted by the author; you may use the material in your personal research, but it may not be published in any form, online or otherwise.
