Stokley D. Ward, age 11, born AL, is enumerated on the 1850 Marshall Co., AL census, page 196A, as living in the household of Wm. S. WALKER, 34, born SC. With wife Elizabeth, age 36, born SC; Mary C., age 11, born AL; Inez? Ann, age 8, born AL; Martha June, age 6, born AL; Sarah F., age 4, born AL; Robert P., age 2, born AL; Elza? S., male, age 4/12, born AL and Tho. P. WARD, age 8, born AL (this is probably a brother to Stokley). Their is a Thomas P. WARD of the 14th AL Volunteer Infantry, that died in service, Dumfries, VA, 1862. This author think that this is the same person, as I have found no other record of him, other than on the 1850 Marshall Co., AL census, page 196A, with the Walker family.

Also, on the 1850 Marshall Co., AL census, pg. 189B, enumerated on the 11th day of Dec, their is a family living in district No. 22, Nancy I. Word, 37, b. TN, as head of HH. Also living in the HH is sons: Stokley D., 12; Thomas D., 10; Randolph, 7; James K. P., 6; all born AL. I think that this might be my WARD family. The surname could read WARD instead of WORD, as their is always mistakes in transcribing census. All of the names fit and ages are close. The mother (Nancy) much have died after the census was taken and the boys were split up and put with different family member. It is just 7 days later that the census is taked of the household of Wm S. WALKER, where Stokely and Thomas are found. This would solve the problem of the boys living in different households. At this time this is undocumented information.

Stokley D. WARD served with William S. WALKER, Captain, in the 48th AL Infantry Regiment in the Civil War. At this time, it is not documented that this is the same Wm. S. Walker that Stokley was living with in 1850 Marshall Co., AL.

Listed in the 1866 Blount County Alabama State Census is S. WARD. Living in the household is 1 male under 10, (William R.) and 1 male between 20 - 30, (Stokely, Sr.). Also living in the household are 2 females under 10, (Eliza and Nancy)and 1 female between 20 - 30, (wife - Mary "Polly"). Living next door is James WARD. Persons living in this household: 1 male between 20 - 30 and 1 female between 20 - 30. This would be James and wife Rebecca.

The 1870 Blount Co., AL Census, page 302B, enumerated as head of household, Stokley Ward (30) and wife Mary, age 25. Also, living in the household was children: E. J. (9), N. A. (5), W. R. (2), H.R. (3/12). Their was living, also in the household D. L. Staton, (age 11). D. L. Staton was most likely a relative of Stokley's Wife Mary, as her maiden name was STATON. All borned in AL.

The 1880 Blount Co., AL Census, page 393A, stated that living in the household was head of household Stokely Ward, (38) and wife, Mary (24) (this is Stokley's 2nd wife Mary M. Honea). Also in the house hold was children: Eliza J. (18), William (11), Rebeca, (Sp. Rebecca) (9), Elizabeth (8), John E. (6), Joseph H. (4), Stokley D. (3). All borned in AL. This was beat 22 Union Church area.

On the 1900 Jefferson Co., AL Census, page 116A, enumerated as head of household Stokley Ward, (b. Oct 1840, AL, age 59) and wife Mary, (b. Dec 1856 AL; age 43). Also living in the household, ch: Joseph H. (Jul 1875; 24), Mary, (b. Sep 1880; 19), Mattie, (b. July 1886; 13), Rufus G. (b. Jun 1889; 10), Jessie L. (b. Oct 1891; 8 yrs). All in household born in AL.

1910 Marshall County, AL Census, page 200A, age 69, AL, married 2 times, 3 yrs; ENGLAND, SC; Miller; Flour Mill. Also living in the household is wife, Rachel, age 69, married 2 times 3yrs; 3 children, 3 living; AL, AL, AL.
