Robert Purdon was born in 1780 in Glasgow, Scotland. He married Jane Ferguson around 1812 in Scotland. In 1821, Robert along with wife and family sailed from Greenock, Scotland for Canada. They settled in Dalhousie Township, Lanark Township, Ontario.
