You've done everything admirably. We have some ancestors in common, especially the blacksmith Brownings of Somerset. I new nothing about them until about 6 months ago and then Ancestry.com helped me find the right connections. Will have to look again at your tree to see which Brownings in particular are common ancestors. Would be nice to connect and exchange info, but you have heaps more info tham myself.

Hi Sheila,
Tony Morgan who is tracing his family tree sent a hopeful letter back in June to an address in Llanidloes, fortunately his letter found his way to family who still live there who passed it on to me and I have sunsequenlty been in contact. He sent me a link to your excellent site.

My Grandfather was Reginald Victor Dellow, he married Elizabeth Ann Edwards (d 1984). They had two children my mother Pamela Jean Dellow (b 22/6/1939)who sadly died in March (she would loved to have seen your site) and Peter Dellow (b29/1/1941) who is alive and well and living in USA, no kids though.
My mother maried Robert Glyn Morris and I have one other brother Robert Neil.
Don't know if this is of any interest
Steve

Hi I think your name may be Sheila, but here goes this may be a bit long winded but also may be very important to tracing mine and my living mums family history and may fill a few gaps for you anyway !!!!!

You have a reference on your website to a Bertie Henry Bruce who married a Edith Hensley in 1910 and had a child the same year who's name was Edith ? and then married a David Young after WW1 in 1919.....

This is where my story and background may be of interest to us both possibly ---- so I will lay out my story on this side of my family as brief as possible -

I am Mark Atkinson - My sister is Teresa Atkinson - our mum is Olive Maud Margeret Bond - her mum was Edith Maud Bond (born 1910 Norfolk around the West Dereham / Downham Market area) (maiden name Bruce) (she married a William Henry Bond circa 1935 as my mum Olive Bond was born 1938) her mum was Edith Mary Young (formaly Bruce) she died in West Dereham on 17th March 1960 age 78 years. She remarried a David Young (who died in West Dereham on 27th January 1964 age 68 years) after her original husband a Mr Bruce died in WW1 ( as we have known him to be so far as we have never been able to trace his first name)

Now ! Edith Mary (Young / Bruce) had 5 children that we are aware off Edith Maud (my nan who died in Ruislip, Middlesex in jan 2001) Agnes, Walter, Alf, Ivy and one son who's name we do not know as yet but he died young we think.

The story also through the family states that the original husband of Edith Mary Young (Mr Bruce) died in WW1 in Flanders but when he (who I now possibly believe to be your Bertie Henry Bruce) arrived in Flanders made a pact with his friend (David Young)that if he was not to survive the war would he when he returned to England marry his wife and provide for his familiy ?????

Your records / story seem to be very close to my family history even down to the detail of the remarrage between David Young and Edith Bruce (formaly Hensley)

Please e-mail me your thoughts and we could touch base and discuss over the phone as there are a lot of unanswered questions surrounding my family history and I am just starting to research my family tree so if this a solid connection I am thrilled and so will be my mother !!!!

Please get in touch !

Best Regards

Mark Atkinson

Hello Shelia
May I say what a credit this website is to you, family history is about people and not just collecting names.
My Mary Jarrod was born Oxborough circa 1805 and married Charles Jarvis from Thornham I guess late 1820's early 1830's. I have been unable to find any further information about her. I understand that Oxborough is fairly close to the area where your Jarrod family came from.Mary and Charles lived all their married life at Tilney cum Islington and they are both buried there. Have you ever come across my Mary Jarrod in the course of your research? I would be most grateful for any help you can give me.
Best Wishes, Jan

This is a great web site,I am researching my husbands family tree and your site has filled in a few more gaps. My husbands great great grandmother was Mary Jarrod (nee Wade) she was the wife of JOHN Jarrod, I have found that they were married I think in around 1848 and all I have found after that is she had died I presume before the 1881 census as she is not listed on that census page. Looking on your web site I have found out a little more about her and her family. Keep up the good work. I have put this in your guest book as I cannot find your Email address

Thank you, Sheila! Lots of relevant material on this obscure corner of Norfolk.
Eliza Chapman and William Townshend Thorpe (Wereham amd Wimbotsham) were among my great grandparents. Although there is no apparent link to your Chapmans, Sheila, I'm sure there is somewhere - and what about the Chapmans of Upwell and Outwell?
All constructive suggestions gratefully received! I'd really like to know when/why/how Susannah (Eliza's sister) moved to London - she married a Colonel Waring ca 1865.

Hello,

My name is Suzanne Nicole Bruce
Daughter of David Hector Bruce
and grandaughter of the late Hector and Audrey Bruce of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada

I have been told that the ancestorial link of the Bruce originates from Scotland. I also know that the movie 'Braveheart' is linked to our ancestors.

I would like to find out as much as I can about the Bruce name and I intend to carry the name on since I am the only Bruce left of our family.

My address is [email protected] if you would like to chat.

PS I also know that my grandfathers people came over on a ship called 'The Hector' to Pictou, Nova Scotia, Canada.
