Welcome to Branching Out

NEWSFLASH - For a more detailed look at Operation Overlord, get Frank J. Vargo's new book, "The Apprentice Soldier".

The genealogy bug bit me back in grade school and continues to infect me. After my dad passed away, I looked at the family and realized, before too long, the older generations will be gone and valuable genealogical information would be lost forever. So, I started with my immediate family and worked backwards. It was frustrating as, apparently, there are skeletons hiding the closets of both families. Blind letters went unanswered as did phone calls. No one wanted to talk to me. All these brickwalls infuriated me and I finally realized I was fighting an uphill battle.

For years, my interest in research lay dormant. I'd hear tidbits here and there, usually at funerals, and started collecting them in a notebook. When my grandfather passed away, all his belongings came to my mother but I took it upon myself to methodically search for anything to jumpstart my research. Photograph albums full of people I didn't know and probably never would, old address books and calendars and old correspondence were just what I needed. Leads were suddenly coming out of the woodwork but, still, no one wanted to talk about the family. Again, the frustration caused the research to stop.

Suffice to say, with the advent of the Internet and the growing interest in genealogy, I'm back on the case in search of more relatives, either blood related or "shirt-tail". Our once small tree is now over 7800 individuals and continuing to grow. The roots of my tree are five families. Paternally, STARY and KOZIKOWSKI. Maternally, MURANY(I)/MURANKO and VARGO.

If you've been here before, you'll notice of couple of sections have been retired -- Awards, which really aren't important and God's Holy Acres, Ohio cemeteries can be found in numerous other places on the Net. I hope you still find something of interest here. Please utilize the guestbook for queries and/or links to your site.
