The purpose of this web site is to remember the 60th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. It is dedicated to David Ayers who was only 29 years old when he enlisted in Mercer County for a period of three years. On May 20, 1864, David mustered into Company I of the 60th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry at Camp Chase in Ohio. He was a First Corporal and a harness maker. He was discharged at Columbus, Ohio on May 30, 1865 due to failing health.
