A. Edward Abney age 62 died Monday July 5, 2004 from cancer at his home. He is survived by his wife Martha H. Abney of Berea, and a daughter Tracy Elaine Abney of Erlanger, KY. He is also survived by one sister Betty (JC Jr.) Burnell of Berea. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Clara Hudson Abney, and parents-in-law Benn and Berta Hornbeck. Mr. Abney was a life long resident of Berea and was the retired Chief of the Army Radiation Dosimetry Center. Private funeral services will be later this week. Pallbearers are Gerald Burnell, Kevin Burnell, Charlie Spangler, Maurice Davidson, Steve Slaughter and Kevin Hash. In lieu of flowers Mr. Abney requested donations be made to Hospice Care Plus & Palliative Care 208 Kidd Dr. Berea, KY 40403. Register book online at Lakes Funeral Home.

Aldine White

Aldine White, a homemaker, died Wednesday. She was 77. White was a native of Wilcox County, a resident of Mobile and a member of Nazaree Baptist Church No. 1. Survivors include eight children, Hubert White Jr., Stella Shamburger, Emma White and Diane Lambert, all of Mobile, Gloria Franklin and Delores Ward, both of Detroit, and Annice Legons and Bernice Abney, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren. Viewing is set for Monday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Small's Mortuary. A second viewing will take place Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral at Nazaree Baptist Church No. 1. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Abney of U.S.A. Korea; two daughters, Mrs. James M. Anderton and Miss Martha Anne Abney, both of Birmingham; five brothers, Gordon, James W., J. C., John, and Horace J. Abney, all of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Ludie Mae Clowdus and Mrs. Edith Giamportone, both of Birmingham; and one grandchild, Carolyn Jean Anderton.

Alice Abney, Age 102 of Morrill, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004 at her home. Alice was born in Knox County, Kentucky to the late Henry and Cordellia Warren Gambrel. She was a homemaker and a member of the holiness faith. She is survived by her daughter Irma Thomas of Morrill, one sister Roxie Shorter; one granddaughter Sandra Schnitzler; one great granddaughter Teresa Boellecke and one great-great granddaughter Brandi Leann Boellecke. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands Matt Profitt and Robert Abney; two sons James Roscoe and John Arther Profitt; one brother and seven sisters. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until time of service at Lakes Funeral Home.

Abney; two daughters, Mrs. R. D. Rockett and Mrs. F. F. Green, all of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Goodwin, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hodge; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. ABNEY, Allen Francis, age 58, died 4:20 a.m. Monday in the Bourbon County Hospital. He was a retired employee of the Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot. A native of Estill County, he was a member of the Ruddles Mill Christian Church, a verteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Thelma Brunker Abney, Bourbon County, two sons; Clarence and Larry Abney, also of Bourbon County, one sister, Mrs. Hattie Crouch, Lexington, two brothers, Robert Abney, Logansport, Indiana and Thomas Abney, Lexington. Funeral serice will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris with the Rev. James R. Mays officiating. Interrment will be in the Paris Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 9 p.m. today.

Alma Abney

Alma Abney, 76, Belgrade, died April 23 at Washington County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 28, 1902 at Quaker, a daughter of the late William and Nina Bryan Gillam. Surviving are her husband, Claude Abney, Belgrade, a sonm Claude Leo Abney, St. Louis; a sister, Agusta Midgett, Bonne Terre; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Abney is in state at Britton Bros. (Sparks) Funeral Home in Potosi.

Chapel services are scheduled for 10AM Friday with the Rev. Wesley Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.

 Alonzo Abney, Jr., 81, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 15, 2006 at the Trinity Mission Rehab and Nursing Center. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathaniel Langford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Amos Edgar Abney, of Doe Run, was born in Iron County, Missouri., May 22, 1921 and passed away Monday, November 12, 1956 as the result of an accident, aged 35 years, five months and 20 days. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, three children, Doris, Imogene and Vernon at home, also his father, Charles Abney, his mother, Mrs. Ben Cowley of Doe Run; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hammers, of Doe Run; Mrs. Myrene Hammond, of Route One, Elvins; Mrs. Marie Turner of Bixby, Missouri and Nola Abney, of Doe Run; three brothers, Lovell and Fred of Iron Mountain, and Junior Abney of Farmington. Funeral Services were held Thursday at two o'clock at the Miller Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Homer Smith. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Angela Hope Abney, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Abney, Winchester, died at 8 am today at the University Medical Center, Lexington. Besides her parents, she is survived by her maternal gradparents, Roy Watts, Irontown, Ohio, and Mrs. Ruth Watts, Lexington, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Abney, Winchester. Funeral services will be conducted at 4pm Thursday at the Scobee Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.

Services for Annabelle Abney, 73, of Logansport, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Fisher Funeral Chapel. She died at 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born Nov 21, 1927, in Richmond, she was the daughter of Hershel and Margaret Godsey Roberts. On Dec 28, 1957, in Richmond she was married to Robert A. "Pappy" Abney, who died April 21, 1985. Mrs. Abney was a progress inspector for GenCorp, retiring after 31 years. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sara Ann and Wayne Wescott, Logansport, three sons, William Overly, Portland, Ore., Robert Overly, Monticello, and Steve Overly, Carmel: six stepsons, Frank A. Abney and Robert Abney, both of Lancaster, Ky. John Thomas Abney, Logansport, Edward Abney and Gilbert Abney, both of Nicholasville, Ky, and David Abney, Truth or Consequences, NM; two stepdaughters, Virginia Payne, Lexington, Ky, and Marcella Weaver, Truth or Consequences, NM; one daughter-in-law, Diane Abney, Logansport; one sister, Joan Phillips, Fountain City, 36 grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel. It was Annabelle's wish that friends and family not mourn her passing, but rather celebrate her life. CLAY CITY - Anna Laura Abney, 67, widow of the late Willie Joe Abney, passed from this life on Sat., June 11, 2005. She was born Anna Laura Branham in Mt. Sterling on Dec. 19, 1937, to Isom Branham and Mittie Cain Branham. She has a long career as a civilian employee at the Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot. After retirement, she worked at Mrs. Branham's Candy Kitchen, Inc. in Clay City, a company started by her mother and father in the 1950's. She was a member of the Cave Run Doll Club for over 20 years. Funeral arrangements are with Wells Funeral Home in Clay City. Visitation will be 3-9 pm today. Funeral services will be conducted by Brother Mac Rice at the Clay City Church of Christ at 11 am on Mon., June 13. Pallbearers will be Erik Fountain, Nathan Daniel, Roderick Forsythe, Anibal Martinez, Dwight O'Hair and Ski Fountain. honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Daniel, Wade Rogers, Shelby Booth, Darrell Slemp, Lonnie Stewart, Walter Rice, Homer Rice, Jimmy Abney, Marvin Abney, Glenwood Abney, Jerry Mays, Shelby Abney, Bruce Snowden and Charles Randell. She has left behind one sister, Juanita Pauline Cockrell of Mt. Sterling. She was the loving mother of two children, Paula Creasy Martinez of Clay City, wife of Anibal Martinez Antonio, and Terry Joe Abney, husband of Bernice Abney of Clay City. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Kelly Moore Forsythe, wife of Roderick Forsythe, Clay City, and Erik Fountain, husband of Bridget Fountain, Stanton, and two step-grandchildren, Nathan Daniel and Matthew Daniel of Mt. Sterling. Also two great-grandchildren, Kayla Nicole Moore and Shayla Paige Fountain. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters in Christ.

Augusta Gongetter Norris, 65, of 113 Estelle Road, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. at her home. Widow of Thomas C. Norris, she was born in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Beadie Jefferies Littlejohn and the late John Devine Littlejohn. She was a 1956 graduate of Granard High School and received a B.S. degree in nursing from Gardner-Webb College. She was a retired nurse and had been head nurse at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, nursing supervisor at Brookview HealthCare Center, and a volunteer nurse at Bethel Senior Day Care Center. Mrs. Norris was a member of Limestone Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Mixed Choir. She was a member of Whitaker Chapter No. 127, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are two sons, Steven Carlos Norris of Gaffney and Travis Norris of the home; a daughter, Thomasina Norris Goodgame of Atlanta; a sister, Annie L. Abney of Aiken; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Edward Littlejohn, and a sister, Artrice Littlejohn. Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Limestone Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Arthur J. Smith. Burial will be in Gaffney Memorial Park. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at The Gilmore Mortuary.
