Faye Eunice Abney, 76, of Farmington, formerly of Steelville, died Oct 3 at Farmington. She was born August 17, 1915 in Steelville to the late Walter and Leatha Martin Williams.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Ralph Abney; two daughters; Franics Skaggs and Bonnie Skaggs Masters; one brother; Clyde Williams; two sisters Blanche Long and Francis Hawkins.
She is survived by one son; Eugene Abney of Steelville; three daughters; Betty Austin Gilliam of St. Peters, Gladys Calvert of Tempe, Arizona, Ann Schidler of Mesa, Arizona, one brother; Kenneth Williams of Cherryville, Mo. 14 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral is at 2 PM today at the Britton Funeral Home in Steelville, with the Rev Ed Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at the Czar Cemetery in Steelville.
Floyd Abney
Frank J. Abner, 60 of Bee Spring,a native of Irvine, died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Hospital, Lexingotn, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident approximately three weeks ago.
A veteran of World War II, he owned and operated the Abner General Store, and was a member of Leitchfield Masonic Lodge No. 236, F&AM, and Hubs Field Apostolic Church. Survivors include his widow, Teresa Abner: five sons, Billy Abner, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, James E. Abner, Paul D. Abner, and David L. Abner, all of Lexington; a stepson, John Geary, Leitcherfield; six stepdaughters, Joyce Griffith, Geneva Saleh, Sue Drake and Linda White, all of Lexington and Mary Ann Geary and Theresa Logstn both of Leitchfield: his mother Druscilla Carmicheal, leitchfield, two brothers, Harold Abner and JW Abner, both of Winchester, and two sisters, Cella Mae Carmicheal and Odella Mae Abner both of Winchester. Services will be conducted at 2pm Saturday at the Hus Field Apostolic Church, Brownsville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3pm today at the Patton Funeral Home, Brownsville.

Fred Abney of Iron Mountain died Jan. 2, 1995, at his home. He was born June 4, 1936, at Bixby, the son of the late Charles and Lucille Crocker Abney. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Ben Cowley, and by one brother, Amos Abney and three sisters, Marie Turner, Mayrene Hammond, and Bessie Hammers. He was 59 years old.
He is survived by one son, Daniel Abney of Paradise, Texas; and by three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Terry) Sterns of Sanger, Texas, Leisa (Mrs. Floyd) French of Fredericktown, and Tamela (Mrs. Lloyd) Clayton of Bridgeport, Texas; two brothers, Lovell Abney of Desloge and Maynard Abney of Fredericktown, and by one sister, Nola (Mrs. Robert) Ervin of Farmington; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends called at the Cozean Funeral Home after 5 PM on Tuesday, Jan 3. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan 4. at 2 PM at the Cozean Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronald Lee Hammon officiating. Burial followed at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Fred Dudley Farthing, 78, Dug Hill Road, Irvine, husband of Vernetta Jane Abner Farthing, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in Claremont, N.C., after a short illness. He was born July 17, 1928 in Estill County, a son of the late Dudley and Anna Donahue Farthing. He was a member of the Church of God, U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and a retired employee of the Richmond Bluegrass Army Depot.
Survivors include his wife, Vernetta Jane Farthing; three daughters, Carolyn Rhoton of Claremont, N.C., Judy Spicer and Anita Wallace, both of Irvine; two sons, Bobby Ray Farthing of Claremont, N.C. and Freddie Wayne Farthing of McKee; one sister, Virginia Lee Cole of Mich.; two brothers, Raymond Farthing of California and Oliver Phoenix of Utah; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Home by Rev. Jerry Rose with burial at Oakdale Cemetery.
His grandsons served as pallbearers.
Leadington - Freddie Leon Abney, 70, of Leadington passed away July 31, 2001, at his residence. He was born Jan 2, 1931, in Crawford County, son of the late Harrison and Hattie Johnston Abney.
Surviving are two sons, Freddie Leon Abney, Jr. of Jefferson City and Jessie Nathan Abney of Park Hills; one daughter, Mary Lynn Beers and her husband, Ray of Viburnum; one grandson, Scott Beers of United States Military; a very special friend, Linda Bell of Park Hills; two sisters, Dollie Furry of Park Hills, and Helen Furry of Chico, Ca; one brother, John Abney and his wife Eulah of St. Louis; special friends: Helen Trokey, Ladonna, Sarah and Kristy Bales, Keith Laws and Darryl Laws; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation was at the Caldwell Funeral Home in Park Hills. Services were Thursday at 11 AM at the Caldwell Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Bernie Crum officiating. Interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Leadington.
